E.g. if you play a 50 point satellite and win a spot into a 2500 point event, can you unregister and have 2500 points?

Yep, I believe cash values are turned into tourney dollars when you unregister. So you lose 5 cents on every dollar. ie (if you win entry into the daily dollar and unregister you get 1 tourney dollar which if you were to convert it to cash is .95 cents)

Correct. Or you can just save the tourney dollar and use it to register for any other MTT, including private ones.
