Full Tilt Observer Hand History Gone?

Okay, I have no idea when this happened, but it appears that Full Tilt no longer saves a temp file on your computer for hands observed when not sitting at a table? It used to be that you could look at those observed hand histories but they weren't saved so once you left that table they disappeared too. When did this happen? Does it go back to when then implemented their hand history replayer and I just now noticed? I actually found it useful to look at those hands on occassion while I was still watching a table.

i'm not sure. but bet it has to do with stopping data mining. i think you can see the hands in the hand history replayer. if you click the consol you might find them in there. and be able to replay them.

Yeah, it will let me look at them that way, but unfortunately I can no longer get a text history of a particular observed hand. Oh well, no biggie. I didn't really need it all that often, but I was going to check a hand tonight a couple hands right after getting knocked out of SNG and that's when I found it was no longer there. And yeah, I'm sure it had to do with stopping data mining.

Ya, it was a while ago when they introduced their new hand history replayer. I think early July:

Datamining - As promised a number of months ago, we've taken some steps to curb datamining. This includes no longer writing out observed hand histories to disk. This will undoubtedly upset some of you, but the datamining policy has been in place for a long time and we've seen too much abuse of that policy to do nothing. It's also likely this isn't the last change we'll make to address the problem. We feel this is ultimately the best policy for the overall health of the game.

That's cool, I can't fault them for that. Datamining has always been against their TOS anyway, so while it was convenient to look back on occassionally, it was still kind of strange that they always gave you a copy of non-played, observed hands.

Yeah well ....

Interesting how for at least the two years I've been playing there, that they started out with the software writing out observed hands.

And just "coincidentally", programs like pokertracker etc, cropped up, which probably helped influence more players to play at FT.

Now all of a sudden that "overlooked" feature has been cut off. They also have gone to the extent of censoring the live table chat dealer messages unless you are playing in the game.

My guess is that datamining is reducing their profits in some way, and that is the reason they've cut it off.

P.S. I don't play with a hud / pokertracker .. or even for "real" money yet .. other than what I win in freerolls.

inspiring

I really like FT new client I only wish it wont crush every 10 minutes

I just dont understand why they are prohibiting datamining
