full tilt mess up?

a couple days ago i was playin a 60 cent qualifier to the 200k guarantee for sunday. when there was about 20 people left all chat was disabled. 1st through 5th were gonna qualify. anyway when there was 15 people left (give or take) we started playin hand for hand for the final table. i was 3rd in chips. then suddenly the tourney just stopped and a message popped up sayin congradulations youve placed first place and won a seat to the 20&2 200k guarantee. so i think everyone that was still seated all got into the tourney. i aint complaining but i thought that was weird and was wondering if anyone had any insight on why this happened or if its ever happened to them. thanks

All sites run qualifying tournaments which guarantee a certain number of qualifiers. Depending on the number of entries, the number of qualifiers can increase. If for example there are 15 qualifying spots available, as soon as the player on the bubble standing in 16th place is eliminated. all 15 players remaining will get a message saying they have won and qualified.
It is important to keep track of your position when the tournament is getting close to the bubble position and monitor your decisions closely.

i've never been in this scenario but have always wondered, to the play out the rest once the 15 people make it? or once the 15 have been determined does the game stop..

They usually guarantee so many spots and depending on how many people play the number of qualifiers can increase. I think this is what happened to you.

re: full tilt mess up? poker

All the ones that I've played whenever the bubble is burst its over. No point in playing out the end of the tourney since everyone gets the same entry.

u know what i later thought about it and i remembered it was a rebuy so that allowed more entrants. then listening to what u guys say that the tourney is over once the seats are won it makes since now
