I won the Poker After Dark: Round 1 with 630 Players in it.

My advice: Play reasonably tight for the first hour then in second hour loosen up and steal blinds etc. Final Table: Pretty easy to get there I've gotten to like 4 but there you should develop your own strategy based on your donkish opponents.

I agree, my success @ these freerolls is like the other reply's. Wait out the donks the field should be significantly cut down by the first break. If you get strong hands from the start of the tourney until the first break, be prepared to get involved in a pot with at least 3-5 players. Hopefully your AA will hold up against a J 3 off suit.

I won a Poker After Dark Round 1 game a few weeks back... didn't get to play Round 2 'cause I had to work.

My strategy was basically play extra tight, and double up when you've got the goods. People are playing with just about anything, so it's not like you're not going to get paid off when you hit it big, and it's not like you need to play marginal hands for the most part.

Thanks...it is frustrating (even though it's free) to have so many donk calls and lose with good hands, but guess that is the nature of the freeroll.

I'm in one right now...

I did the second round of after dark on Saturday and got 243rd out of 2430, just sit for the first 67 hands... unless you have AA (maybe)... I'm enjoying them the prizes for the winner in both are great and they're really fun... I'm 141 out of 187...give an update sometime later...

Afterdark: I placed 1st in rd one and then 32 in rd 2.
Aussie: I took first in rd 1 and then 4th in rd 2 and am awaiting my rd 3 which is awesome because only has one satallite to it which means there is only going to be 18 players. I am actually considering selling the spot but really dont know how to go about it. They have similar Aussies that cost $1000+$60 and that is basically the rd 3 (top two spots get the 18k prizepack) but who knows how many will play in those tourney. But with that said, an 18 player field, Im thinking at least $1400 If i were to sell the spot but again...How the hell would I do that? Any Ideas?

Aussie After dark

I've been playing them regularly... I'm sure you have seen me, same screen name.... I'm one of the donk's for the first 10-15 minutes then tighten up and glide into the final table... I've made several final tables, got 1st in round 1 once... but I went to the Iowa Hawkeye/ Syracuse football game, so I couldn't play round 2.. Go HAwks.... ISU was a fluke ... lol...
If you see me in an Aussie / After dark... ... Lay it down... lol

I'd be surprised if you were able to transfer the spot or sell it - you got there just on freerolls, right? I know you can't unregister / transfer the Round 2 places after winning a Round 1 freeroll, I'd be surprised if you could do it for Round 3.

I'd say just play the tourney, play your best, and enjoy sunny Melbourne if you actually win one of the places. I might even come rail you at Crown

Neither had Chris Moneymaker when he won the Main Event

Just play your regular game and see how you do

I've won round 1 twice for the After Dark but never made it to the final table in the second round. It's best to wait like the others are saying before playing as people will go all-in with anything and they often get lucky. Never won any of the Aussie ones.

I made it to the second round of the Aussie freeroll, but I lost. I've noticed that if you give it a few minutes and let all of the 'all-ins' go away, making it to the end is pretty easy.

The two hard parts

1. Getting registered. You have to be quick.
2. Getting past the All-Ins

Thanks for the input

i made round 2 in the after dark once and was doing good in the second round and lost with AQ suited when i flopped two pair A's and Q's to a guy who flopped a set with is pocket 2's. If i would have won that hand i would have been chip leader with less than 300 people left

i took down the .net after dark 315 person sng and the night before that i took down the 630 person sng aussie millions .... and ill tell you exsactly how i did it.....

im a free roll junkie thats all there is to it i love them and im generally a concervative player but when i showed up at the front door of those two tournys .... i got my hat blown off ...theres simply no way you can play tight and expect to win imo... so what i did was look at it like the lotto for about the first three hands of each ... in one instance i took down the first hand with ace rag and knocked down pritty much the entire table which put me at around ten gs if i remember correctly now you roll the dice two or three more times then you wait... get your stack high early and then pick your hands try and weed out the ones who are "trying to make a move" and blast there donk buts back to the main lobby all the while accumulating chips ...

then eventully you get to the final table where i noticed the callaber of player is pathetic so at the final table and the final table only are you allowed to act like the civilized poker player you are

i went in to both final tables the low man i was 8th in one and 7th in another .. the chip lead was so worried about knocking it down and winning it he forgot that he wasnt the only one that knew a thing or two about cards so i took both final tables with ease...matter of fact not to sound cocky but the final table was piece of cake ... it was like playing with a bunch of grade schoolers haha

now i realize i just rambled on so let me brake it down quickly for you...

play the lotto the first few hands (they regenerate every few minuets)

wait it out while trying to steal little pots when it settles down

weed out all the "make up artists"

and then play like the player we all know you can be when you get to the final table ...lol

hope my rendition helpd out a little ...see you at tables...

id say good luck...but poker is a skill game ...luck has very little to do with it hahahah

good day...the maggot and his dog......

Be patient and strike hard when you have a good hand.
I've made a couple of final tables and ended up 2nd in an Aussie only because the guy had a 5x chip lead on me.

I made the final table in the 180 person after dark the other night. I doubled up to just a bit over 3k and had to go on sit out. I came back to see I placed 8th.

I've win twicw the 180 once the 315, but everytime u have to wait for the donk to be eliminated, or if u have a nice hand at start u can do all in and if u loose just wait 1 min and get the next one.

Sometime i start like 4 SnG and wait to have a real good hand to bet, cause most of the time u will have to make all in.

I've been doing the same thing. Many times I will push with any two reasonable cards ont he first hand. You can easily end up with 6-10K. And if you are out, sign up for the next one.

Welp I finally qualified for a round two. I won a Poker after 180 seat tourny. The top two get seats in the 180 seaters too.
