FTP super turbos I know they've been around for a while, but tonight i tried the FTP super turbos for the first time. Nice distraction from cash games. If you don't them, they are SNGs with 300 chips, 15/30 starting blinds going up every 3 minutes. So essentially it's like a push/fold training session using SNGWiz, just that you get paid for it at the end. It was fun. I tried 2 games - I think at the cheapest level ($3.5+0.3) - and got 1st and 2nd. Obviously unsustainable, but on the other hand at this level most villains clearly don't know how to play that structure and i'm pretty sure you can easily get a nice ROI. Anyone has any experience with higher buy-ins? Are they beatable?

Yeah i've had some success with these in the past... i actually think that i'm going to start logging my play and roi for these for the next week or two. 4 tabling at the lowest limits for maybe 2-3 sessions a day. I played 5 today 2-1st's 1-2nd. I'll see if i can get 100 under my belt before i get sick of them and try to keep my progress posted somewhere.

i played in a sat. to a ftops even where starting chips were 100, blinds increase every 3min. only 1st place wins seat and i bubbled when i got rivered. if my hand held i would of had him crippled and the blinds woulda put him allin the next hand. was very sick. had me steaming. i tried to get in another game right away but it was too close to the start of the ftops event so they pulled the super turbo s&g. probably better for me cause i was probably not in the right state of mind to do good after that beat. that is the only one i have ever played because when it comes to luck, i must have used all mine up in a former life and i think the super turbos have a lot to do with luck. very hard to use strategy when everyone starts with 100 chips and allin almost every hand.

re: FTP super turbos poker I can see where that would be an interesting diversion. Similar to playing russian roulette, but with only a few bucks at stake. May try it once or twice to see. Would be interested if someone posts their ROI after 50 turns. Even better if they could post their ROI for 50 "regular" SNGs vs. 50 of these. My bank is way to small for that experiment ($30). Thanks.

I've played a superturbo before and its more of a crapshoot than anything else. With the starting stack at 300 and blinds at 15/30, everyone at the table has 10 BB's. I would only recommend this to people who have large bankrolls and can afford to lose some of it.

I'm no expert with ICM, but I've played over 100 of the 3.50s. At first things were pretty easy; play like a rock for a few orbits and then start shoving. ROI was 20%+ up to about the 60th one. Then hit a big downswing, plus the competition seemed to change; maybe some people who knew how to play were using them as a source of income multitabling. I found the time/day seemed to make a difference, plus now that they list two at a time it seems to have gotten easier again, though I don't know if my ROI is even positive anymore.

If you have a good model of the calling ranges of villains behind you (which you can only get by playing), then there's a mathematical solution to the game. You can toy with this strategy and train for it using The SitNGo Wizard - Home |

I haven't tried them before but I'm thinking about giving them a shot it's hard when your getting your feet wet in the cash tournies cause it always seems like players are so reckless and fearless with thier bets and can crack your good hand.
