Freeroll Tournament Durations at FullTilt, PokerStars, Bodog

Hey all,

I searched and didn't see anything posted about this and hopefully I'm not out of line, but I thought it might be helpful to have a thread about how long we can expect certain freerolls to take (until we're in the money).

These freerolls take several hours to make the money, but of course they vary from poker room to poker room. I also realize that the same freeroll at one room can vary in duration depending on the play.

But still, for those of us who have limited playing time due to work, family situations, etc, I thought it might be helpful to have a general idea of how long certain freerolls can be expected take. [I hope I'm making sense here and not rambling on!]

Here are my thoughts/observations:
FullTilt: Ferguson Challenge, duration: ~1hr 30min
PokerStars: Hubble NL Hold'em Freeroll: ~4hrs 30 min
Bodog: $500 Guaranteed Freeroll: ~4 hrs

Do people agree with these times? I'm also curious to know how long the FullTilt $100 Freeroll and PokerStars Daily Eight Grand Freerolls take.

I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

The only site I know of that gives an estimated tourney length time is Cake poker. They calculate the blind structure so that most games last around 2 hrs. They run loads of freerolls with relatively low fields, so if you need to build a bankroll this would be my 1st choice to start. As for your original question, I don't play public freerolls except for special stuff like the recent one on PS Weekend with Daniel.

The Ferguson is more like 4.5-5 hrs. Not too sure about the rest, but that seems about right.

I only play freerolls at Full Tilt.
My guess for the $100 FR. will take about 2 1/2 to 3hours to get into cash position , and up to 4 hours to end the game.

Sorry, I actually meant the Satellite to the Ferguson (11pm EST daily), which if I recall was about 1.5 hours.

It's good to know that the actual Ferguson Challenge Tourney is 4.5 to 5 hrs though.

Has anybody made it to the money on the 100 Tournament Dollar Freeroll (the one that starts at 6:40)?

Ok, I guess I'm not sure what you're talking about. The Ferguson is a daily tourney with a buy-in of $1 and generally about 1000 players. There are no satelites to it to the best of my knowledge.

The Ferguson satellite might be a new thing on FullTilt then. If you go to Play Money and in the tournaments tab, scroll down to the start time of 23:10 and you'll see a game with pink letters/highlight. This satellite is turbo and a max of 2700 and the top 100 finishers win a $1 for the Ferguson at 1:30.

I personally didn't notice this until very recently but happened to cash out in one of them.

Yea the Full Tilt freerolls take about 3-4 hoursto hit the money. These tournaments are too long and because of their small prizes can become boring at times. The yshould have kept these freerolls at a max of 900 people like it used to be.

The 2700 non turbo can take 5 hours
The 2700 turbo is about 3 hours
The CC freeroll when ~100 people play is about 2 hours
The Ferguson satellite is about 2 hours
These are the ones I have played in and the duration is more or less the same give or take a few minutes.

Well i think the best way to try to build a bankroll faster, instead of waiting for the CC freerolls, would have to be the Ferguson sattilite. Its a 2700 entrant and top 100 gets a seat in the the Ferguson around 130ish. Satty takes no longer than 1h 30mins, and it runs everyday night, good thing about it. The tournament is pretty soft, i have final table it twice long time ago, maybe last year even lol, but its about 5-6 hrs long, so im suggestion is, if you work in the AM, not worth the time, but its a good way to build your bankroll from scratch, good luck

The limit freerolls on fulltilt take forever. I was in the final table of the razz one it was close to 5 and 1/2 hours. I ended finishing in fourth after a long 5 hours and 50 minutes.

Are the Hubble freerolls on pokerstars the one that sometimes has like 12,000 people? If so I would imagine the would take a lot longer. I do play the bodog freerolls and it is correct that they do last 4 hours +.

The $500 pts freeroll on Bodog takes about half the time of the others. You can usually cash near the 2 hour mark. Except for Friday & Saturday, since the fields are larger.

Doyles Room:
Quick Draw 45-60 mins
Noon $500 2 hrs
Sat. Welcome to Doyles room Don't remember, but you're guaranteed to cash by sitting out.

I recently had an experience with Hubble at pokerstars.10.000 people enduring a dreadfull agony over 99 tickets for the Sunday's weekly round.

After i involved my self in that experience i only ended up 76th and subsequently i saw that other people played for less than an hour building up a good stack and then they sat out.By that they qualified without pratically doing nothing.I myself was playing for about 5 hours...

so the key is...avoiding Hubble altogether!!!!

Hmm, cool. I never play playchips there so I've never seen it. Good to know though.

nice didn't know it as well...
Tourneys take much time to complete, but if you get something it's always worth the time you spent.
I get MAD when I lose near the cash places...

Yes, around 4 hours it takes you to end a game.... Even the Hubble freeroll (there are 12k, but in 1 hour you'll have more or less 2-3k players...)

You're pretty dead-on with the bodog tourneys. I hardly ever even try those Pokerstars Hubble freerolls simply b/c you're looking at outlasting 12000 players to get in the top 99, just to qualify for another freeroll. Too much time.

Not really. Probably more like 0.5 per hour if you just finish in the money.

There are also Holdem Turbos in the play money section which pays with the same payouts as the 100$ freerolls except they pay in tourney dollars.....

The 100$ Razz freerolls typically take about 6 hours, and the omaha hi freerolls take about 5 and a half hours.

Must Freerolls like on FTP/PS/Bodog take about 4 ours. No big differenses there.
In the past the daily 50 grand sat. did take less than 3 ours.
But with the new daily 80 grand sat. it also take a bit more than 4 ours.
Would be nice if there was a turbo FR.
Now you have a tournament that is to long, have to many pll an a to small PP.

Bodog and Full Tilt are often pretty time consuming, i prefer bodog if i'm gonna play a freeroll but full tilt offers more

tournaments with rebuy and addon are more longer
Fulltillt freeroll - 3:30 h, turbo-2:00 h
PokerStars hubbles - 3-4 h because last 100 players play at all in
Doyles QuiqDraw(turbo + rebuy, addon) 3 h
