First time playing in a casino

I recently went to a live card room for the first time a couple months ago and thought I'd share the experience...

My buddies got me to go down the the Seminole Hard rock with them on my 19th birthday and I had some disposable income at the time so I decided to go. Got there and we got seated at the smallest NL table they had. $1/$2, so I would have to say I was really nervous. Not only was it my first time being there but I've never played anything over .25c/.50c. If that wasn't enough, I ended up getting the last seat left on the table which left me with a guy on my left who had about 10 times the table maximum sitting in front of him.

So I sat down with my measly $50 dollars and saw a few hands but didn't really get too involved because these guys had been raising and reraising each other like crazy. When I finally got a hand I ended up losing half my stack when my flopped straight got beat out on the river by a full house.

So then comes the good part...not as in winning any chips but avoiding losing the rest of my stack. The guy sitting next to me kept thinking I already folded and in turn went to muck his cards showing them to the table...AA's. I caught myself as I started for my chips to make a raise and he showed. So I probably dodged a few there.

All in all I ended up with a low of $16 dollars. Luckily within the next few hands I caught some cards and ended back up to $64. I decided to stop there as all my friends had lost their stacks already.

I think I played so bad because I was so nervous...since going back to play some $125 SnG's I haven't had a problem...just first time jitters I guess.

Anyone else had a nervous experience the first time they went to a casino?

and sorry this post is so long I just need to do some posting to catch up to you 1000 post people

Ohhh that was the casino I played 7 stud at every year on vacationand loved. I used to go there when it was just the seminole indiana reservation casino(always funny middle of tampa on orient ave, but still reservation casino lol). Havn't been there in about 5 years, was funny cause last time I was there a bunch of us tried to get a nl holdem table going cause noone had really tried it yet, the craze was just catching on. Another funny thing is since playing online I started hearing some noise on bankroll management and to think I would go in there with 50 bucks and play the 1/2 stud tables and always walk away with a profit. Tried that online for the first year or so and it never seemed to work out.

What state do you live in where they let you into casinos? I'm in IL and I'm 20 and casinos here don't let you in unless you're 21 or over.

That would be florida, the story I just told about it included the last time I was there. I took my daughter who was 18 down there when she graduated and yes took her to the casino too.

The Seminole hard rock in Tampa florida...from what I understood since its a reservation casino they didn't have to follow the 21 and older if alcohol is served thing...not sure tho.

All the bars and stuff were on raised platforms with people standing there checking ID's so I guess thats why you only have to be 18 in the cardroom...tho they they did server drinks at the tables.

In the time it takes to do one big one you could do five shorter ones!

I have just started playing live B&M poker, but our local casino only does tournaments at the moment...
60% B&M rake - is this reasosnable?
