there are zero tells online, most online pros will tell you this. What you get online are betting patterns and the best players are the best are reading those betting patterns. As for live their are tons of them.

My favorite online "tell" may not be a tell but a play of mine. You decide.

If I get a bad beat , say someone's Ax beats my AK.

I can almost always steal their blind next round. I call it "the sorry tell/play". I kinda treat it like a tip for all those chips he took.

I disagree with zero. Full Tilt gives you the option of changing your expressions. I called a "gecko" one time based solely on his expression change. The flop came AA#, and I had a pocket pair lower than the # on the flop. He changed his expression to "surprised" and immediately moved all in. I called and he had nothing.

I don't know about other sites so this tell may be exclusive to Full Tilt Poker, but those expression changes can be valuable tells.

In reply to the topic, my favorite tell is probably the shaky hands... you know the kind that scream "I flopped a monster and really, really hope you call me."

The way people arrange their chips is always interesting to me: are they being anal retentive, putting them in neat stacks of 10/20 and lining up the stripes on the side, or are they keeping dirty stacks in random piles? And those couple of loose chips they're keeping sitting on the top of the stacks... what's with them?

LOL - there was a major on of these in the Main Event telecast on ESPN this year... think it was on Joe Hachem's table on Day 1? The guy made quads and he was shaking like a leaf when he put his bet out, but the opponent didn't pick up on it, called the bet, then bet back into quad man on the river. Ouch.

man I missed this till right now, this is great. I love it.

dont always go by the shaky hands though, if I play a tourney as soon as I get to a casino my hands always shake for 2 reasons adrenaline and its freaking cold in those casinos.

I agree with storm, whenever I first get to a casino I'm always a little shaky for the same two reasons. Then I get a coffee and a few rum and cokes in me and its all good.

Are you shaking when you're running a bluff, or when you're holding a good hand?

My favorite tell live is when people look at their cards before they bet. In my limited live experience, someone who looks at their cards before they put their chips in the middle are almost always bluffing, whereas people who check their hand after they put the chips in almost always have a hand, or at least a draw.

I think the only real online tells are just analyzing betting patterns.

But for live tells, I usually play with this guy and he sniffles like crazy if he hits huge and another guy's eyes dart around like crazy when he has a big hand. I hope they don't read this and start using them as fakes!
