I think people should just have common courtesy to just use English since most countries require learning the language in schools.

Not necessarily. You list Titan as a site where you play. I have seen Titan enforce it. All you have to do is whistle up their Live Support and report it.

I speak both english and spanish and I try not to do it because it makes me feel uncomfortable when other people do it to me.

Never seen cheating due to use of native speaking in the chat.. I speak a few languages.

However I do undertand that all will find it more comfortly if all use same language.

I like everybody else I do not like abusive language like the one posted, and stuff like that I would report, at least mail a screenie to support.

I have seen Poker Stars enforce the language rule on occasions; never on FTP though.

Sometimes I feel like English speakers take for granted that everyone else in the world can "show the the courtesy" of speaking our language.

But for the sake of anti-collusion it only makes sense.

If I'm being verbally abused, I want to know what they are calling me lol.

On a serious note the collusion thing could be the main problem although it mainly only tends to happen in freerolls

I turn off the chat completely for this reason; too many rude comments, English or not.

PS moderators will enforce it when they are doing check-ups on the tables. I've also haven't seen any enforcement of this on FTP. I just think the tables should all be in the same language. English, unless agreed for something different.

Chat Ban

I got chat ban for saying that America is superior to China to David Chui... it is amazing what some of these ignorant a$$holes can say and do and nothing is done about it... I guess just as long as FT makes their money and takes care of sponsors... "It doesn't matter".

BTW I was chat ban for 30 1 Calendar Month... next time its permanent!

My Two Cents,
Moe.

Total bag-ism! It shouldn't matter what type of bag you are. I'm a messenger bag, but some of my best friends are luggage. I really hate bag-ists.

No one is that stupid to use the poker room's chat for cheating. If there are people who cheat - they will be using Skype or ICQ or MSN or Yahoo messenger...etc

I find it funny when people start cursing in Spanish,Chinese or Pakistani..or whatever language they speak. Many of those people don't understand any English to realize that it's only English on the tables

I think you really deserved it. Grow up and behave accordingly. I really hate it when Americans start talking like 8 year old kids about how great is "America" (BTW, your country's name is USA , America is a continent). We are not kids who compare how big and fancy are their toys. You logged in to the poker room to play poker and I don't understand what made you say that to mr Chui.

I don't care where the other players are located. I like taking money from anyone and I don't like to insult the fish, because I prefer them to stay at the table.

You are underestimating the stupidity of some cheaters. There are in fact some people that stupid and that have actually been caught.

My apologies for this minor derail below...

Um, "America" is not a continent. "North America" and "South America" are continents. "America" is in fact a short reference name of our country. We also say that we are from the United States. Officially the name of the country is United States of America, but what do we call the people living here? Do we call them United States of Americans or do simply call them Americans? Yeah, it's the latter. So, um, thanks for playing...next.

Oh, and maybe a more fitting complaint would be about Mexico. Officially they are the United Mexican States (according to their current constitution), but no on seems to complain when they just call themselves Mexico and refer to themselves as Mexicans. So anyway, since you are clearly using bad information, stop hating on America (which actually IS a great country to live in despite any problems we have).

Again, my apologies for the derail.

I though it was one of the rules and if so that means it is just not being enforced. I have heard about people getting chat banned or even losing accounts for somethings that are not even listed in the rules and then other things get ignored. Maybe it is depends on who handles it that day. Who knows........lol

Hmm. If you had settled for saying that he deserved it because he insulted the other fellow`s homeland and that is rude, we could all agree.

Unfortunately, in making your point, you have been equally rude yourself. Not clever, imo.

Is FullTilt English Only site?

I know that PokerStars is supposed to be English Only, but is FullTilt?

PS does not always enforce EO though.

I get amused while reading other peeps' chats...esp in another language. I usually only write polite things when I communicate with others & many do get away with a lot of things there, esp. when not in English! If it says English only, I would hope that others would use English, but some don't even know English...if they can't read it, they may not know not to use their own language.

People piss me off if they speak foreign languages in the chat. Personally im not much of a chatter at the table. Unless someone is speaking complete BS, and i feel i must correct them. But i believe that chat at the tables should be kept to one language when possible.

About the Chui incident

David Chui started this crap with me... I was railing a buddy at a final table and he told me to stfu... so I said what the hell dude I'm just cheering on my buddy... He then proceeded out of the blue to call me a "cheeseburger eating ignorant american with nothing better to do"... So yeah I brought up the superiority factor of the United States of America... and got chat ban... he also called me a f**er...

So all in all.. yeah both in the wrong... but I was less harsh than he was to me FOR NO REASON!

Take it or leave it... it's in the past now.

English is the most universal language, and it is rude to speak any other language at the table. Not because one language is suppior to the other, but as somone said before they generally teach it globally in the school systems, and it is the most widely accepted language.

On Sunday the 18th I was playing Full Tilt's Double Deuce MTT ($168 itm) and there was Russian player constantly rambling on in his language in the chat box. A player from Great Brittan finally told him, "This is an English only site and if you don't stop I will report you." The guy payed him no mind and kept on rambling. About 20 or so hands later, the Russian guy, who was the chip leader at our table, just disappeared as if his table was switched, but when I immediately looked him up, he was "finished". I am 100% sure not enough time had lapsed for him to have played a hand and busted out on another table, so I can only conclude that he was booted from the tournament.
