Need other details such as stack sizes, other players in the pot, pot size etc to be able to give somethign resembling a decent answer. I'd suspect the answer is 'fold preflop', though. |

| If there were alot of limpers in the pot ahead of you then limping with that hand isn't a horrible play. With nobody else in the pot this is either raise or fold. A call here does not give you any information and allows villan to slow play a monster or bluff you out with nothing. Not knowing how much of a percentage of your or villan's stack it's hard to answer on calling villans raise of 900 or not, but generally i wouldn't call that much here. You certainly aren't getting the 2.5 to 1 you need to make this an overall profitable play. Next time we need more information on the situation to give reasonable opoinions. |

| would it change if he was on BB? If you were the BB or you called the BB with absolute rags(glad you came to this forum, you need serious poker help) call the bet and chase that str8. But as the others have mentioned a fold preflop would have been the best play if you had not been BB. |

Most, if not all, of the regulars on here know pot-odds, christ, even Im learning them. Did you have the correct pot-odds to call? If not, then think about folding. Im not even gonna bother to work it out, cause its 4.55 am, im drunk, and i really dont care, if you really dont care whether or not you have the odds to call. Sorry if this offends anyone else. |

| As the thread name mentions, its early tourney play. This is the more info that people needed. Play is folded around to the button, witch calls and has 5 6os(as mentioned). The small blind calls and the BB raises to 300(blinds are 50/100)( chip count is: SB- 3300, BB 4800, Button - 2700 ) Button calls and SB re-raises to 600. and the 2 players call. FLop is K 7 8 rainbow. SB bets 900, BB folds and SB pushes allin. Not including this info in the first place was an error on my part, as I tried to get an idea of what you would do when faced with an open-ended str8 draw, but I realize now that you do need chip counts ect, to make a decision. Anyways, now that you have the proper info, would you have done the same thing if you were the Button. |

im TAG, so I fold. its early stage, yeah i might hit, there's a chance, but not much of a one. 665, 555, 666, 347, should cover what i want to hit. but anything with a sole 5 or 6 in it is trouble, Ie AK6, AK5, KK5, QT5 sooooted will cause me so much trouble. I understand you are on the button. BB raises? So I want at least the average hand in online poker to justify a raised call-Q7os-you are behind that hand with 56, so fold. In a 10 seater table, odds are better than 50-50 that some guy will have an Ace in their hand somewhere, everyone else has folded, you havent got it, so who do you think has? BB or SB. Wait, they raised you, does that tell you anything???????? Finally, I play about 10 mtt's on my home site every week, properly, I pretty much know how long they are going to last, ie the $2 will go on for 2 hours:lets take that for an example, for the first hour I call or reraise raises with only the top 10 hands, ie AA,KK,QQ, certainly not 56. I use that in BB. Why? I dont want to leak any chips, because as soon as I get AA, KK, QQ, I want to have the maximium amount of chips to do the maximum amount of damage with that hand, not to regret losing 200 chips on a reraised bet holding 56. Is that enough info to start with, sir, or do you want me to go my next level of reasoning for not calling a raise with 56 on the button in the early stage of a MTT? |
