Duplicate Poker
I just won $25.00 at DuplicatePoker.???
I am not exactly sure how I won it. If you are not familiar with duplicate poker, here is an attempt to explain it. Multiple tables get the same deals at the same time. Community cards are all dealt at the same moment. You can not see what is happening at the other tables. How you played the cards dealt to you is compared to how others in the same seat played those same cards against other players who had the same cards as the players in the same seat at your table did. Score is kept (I think) by relative position before and after a completed hand. The concept is very similar to that of contract bridge. It is in the ways that the score is kept that has caused my confusion. However, I just played solid, folded a lot, and out of the 24 hands dealt, I finished on top, top 3 got paid the same. I never played against the other 2 who won. Suggests brackets that never square off. Seeing as how they promo'd me the buy-in, I never expect to collect anything from them. But I will learn duplicate poker if it kills me. It is a good, and perhaps better measure of talent than normal poker, and of course as I won today, I have to say that ........ |

I found it really easy to win for some reason. First time I played I had actually lost alot of chips, but still made the next round and managed to come in first. Then again me KJ against opp 62 one time and the flop hitting him didn't help but most of the pot I had put in pre flop (kj in heads up is a pretty darn good). Guess I didn't lose as much as the others.
Regular table is a pain. I tried it, but found the tourney's too easy, and regular tables too messed up to try to get a game, then have to wait for someone else to play the exact same hand etc so haven't been back there in forever. |
