Drinking & Playing Poker

drinking and poker and 2 close combined to keep them together if some one wants to get wasted and loose all their money that is between them and if their wife if their wife ever finds out...... plx don't read this hunny

I'm a strong supporter of buying rounds for everyone at the table as often as possible.

I stick with Coke on the rocks myself and let em' think it's a mixed drink to keep suspicion down whilst they get hammered. Is that wrong?

I'm on the fence on this one and could go either way.
1. Drinking in moderation while playing poker makes one play a little looser than normal and at times I'm all for it as I had one of my best games half cut.
I had nursed a 26 of crown over a course of 5 hours while in a tourney and placed second in a low buy-in tourney for a little over $240.
2. Making a pig of yourself while playing poker can spell disaster for your BR.
I had been playing ring games and decided to start drinking and lost around $40+ on a .05/.10 table over a course of (I'm guessing here because I honestly can't remember)3 hours.

So IMO I would say disciplined drinking is alright while playing poker.

i dont drink alcohol while im in the casino. i prefer to keep a clear head. i have however seen more than one person who will not only drink but be drunk or i should say appear to be drunk in some cases and still play great. not for me though.

I personally love to drink while I play.I do believe it helps table image if you don't go to far.I am 6' 5" and almost 300 lbs. and I handle a pretty fair amount of alcohol well and love the fact that people think that anyone with a drink in thier hand is a drunken ATM.It just depends on the person.Some can handle it some can't.Someone mentioned smoking bud while playing and I couldn't handle that.I would be too worried about ordering a cheesburger and fries to even think about playing cards lol.I have won a lot of money while drinking and playing so it doesn't hurt me personally as long as I don't get smashed.To the people that believe you can't be a winning player while drinking,I would suggest watching the WSOP final table the year that Scotty Nguyen won it all.As a matter of fact you can see him in many games drinking,beer usually.It simply depends on the person.Having said all of that I would agree that it does affect the vast majority of people in a negative way when it comes to poker and many other things in life and those are the people I like to play against the most.Anyway gotta run.Playing at Bodog in few minutes and yes I will be drinking some brews.Good luck!!!
