If I'm only playing recreational poker (i.e. freerolls at home) I sometimes drink, but not when I play live, and not if I am paying to enter any tournaments...

I drink when I'm playing at home or a bar freeroll. I may have a couple drinks if I'm playing at the casino. It all depends on if I'm winning or not. If I'm winning then I have a couple extra bucks for the drink, but if I'm losing I usually don't buy a drink.

I tend to drink most of the time when I am playing. Just a couple beers though, no need to get tanked and hand over all my chips. It seems to just keep me loose enough to handle the length of some of the larger tourney's without getting too bored and donkin' out.

Online, at home, or at a casino I'll drink. Don't care really. I win just as much, if not more, if I have been drinking then when I'm sober. When I get hammered is when I start bleeding chips.

People just can't handle their liquor, thus they shouldn't drink and drive or drink and play poker (well, no one should drink and drive so strike that).

I never (well rarely) drink when I play online cause its too easy to go on tilt and play like a maniac. I like to drink beer when I play live cause I like the image it represents plus it helps me make a move here and there.

When I play online I don't drink, and I force myself abstain from playing if I've had a drink recently.

However, I'm usually too tight when I play live, and I've found that I play better poker after I've had a couple beers. So I'll let myself imbibe at live games.

I might have a few (or a few more, if we're just messing around) but I definitely won't get wasted playing a game where I care about the outcome.

I do better when I'm drinking at the table live for some reason not online however, usually rum & cokes, they keep you alert and loosen you up a little.
I don't get wasted or I'll lose, but I get a pretty buzz going and that seems to help.

I wouldnt recommend it , your judgement will not be at its best so if you are wanting to win in the long run its a no brainer.

Depends on the player. Im sure to some it helps their game. I like to toke a lil while playing at home, or with friends. Relaxes me, gets me in the zone.
I've never played live at a casino. Drinking while playing would screw me up. I'd be broke in no time.

I will drink occasionally. But if I am in a serious money game, I won't drink. One thing is for sure is that if I am going to be drinking a lot, I have to make sure that a bathroom is nearby. I drank a lot in Vegas recently and after a couple hours, I had to pee every 20 minutes and I missed a lot of hands!

I very much support the idea of drinking as heavily as possible while playing poker.

I hope all my opponents do so.

You guys rock - what a great forum!

I don't really get drunk and play poker, but I don't mind if my online opponents believe I'm drunk. I have even been known to act tipsy at a live poker table while drinking regular Cola.

Not yet 21 so cant drink in the casino when I go there. Have played online a few times while drinking and it hasnt worked out too well. The drunk people at the table are usually pretty funny but they tend to suck out a lot more often.

Drinking and playing poker don't mix with me, I have enough trouble winning when I'm sober. Too many drinks makes me lose my inhibitions and my money!
