doing pretty well in a Stars $20+2 PLO re-buy tourney After about 90 minutes, we're down from 153 entries + 319 rebuys + 60 add-ons (pretty crazy early on, as you can imagine) to 53 people, and I appear to be a chipleader with 55k chips out of 800k or so in the tourney. I'm starting to struggle to remain patient, so I'm going to play a cheap $3 turbo SNG to get the betting itch out of my system and keep me sharp! Oops, by the end of this post I am no longer the chipleader, now in the #2 slot. Wish me luck!

Curious: should I have added on for $20 during the break? I know you're supposed to because the chips are as EV+ as the chips you enter the tourney with, but I was the chipleader then with 30k+ chips and it just didn't seem worth it to pay my tourney entry again (which would be a big drag on my ROI) just to add a couple thousand chips.

Sorry, I forgot that it's not Beriac. My Stars name is Whatalaydown. Look for the familiar avatar! Ooh, I'm in 1st now. Crap, 2nd again. 39 left, 18 spots pay. The play has been crazy loose so I haven't been trying to bully anyone yet, but the table seems to be tightening up finally.

re: doing pretty well in a Stars $20+2 PLO re-buy tourney poker Another PLO musing: Do you value bet more aggressively (less 1/2 pot bets, more pot-sized bets) when you think you're in the lead cause everybody is on some kind of draw, or less because unless you have the stone cold nuts someone could always be ahead of you (ie, top 2 pair ain't what it is in Texas Holdem)?

Wow, didn't understand that hand just now. AA45 double suited, I raise big, flop A4something, have top set, I bet big and get called, on the turn I still have the nut set bet big and get called, and on the river it turns into a nut flush and I get called all-in by a guy with 30k chips (above average) with a mediocre flush and not much before that. Why play for that long in the tourney to finish this wrecklessly? Starting to be able to pick up some blinds.

re: doing pretty well in a Stars $20+2 PLO re-buy tourney poker Ack! AA vs AA with flush on the river again, but this time you were on the wrong end of it! STARS = RIGGED!!!111 GL, not over yet EDIT: Ber, I think he made a flush. When his kicker paired up? How would that even work, you only use 2 cards...

re: doing pretty well in a Stars $20+2 PLO re-buy tourney poker I am a firm believer in rotating the games I play over time to keep myself fresh and maximize my fun. I was making some donk PLO plays but it was a fun use of a few hours!
