Do you prefer to play online or in person?

I much prefer playing in person. I play online just to get my fix, but I much prefer being able to see my opponents.

I like to play online "for real". Which makes no sense right? Wrong.

I go to Hawaiian Gardens here in LA. Great Room, tons of LP fish. Even before my CC days I was doing just fine there. However, if I buy into the $40nl table and the blinds are 1/1 ... they STILL take $3 from every hand for rake that goes to the flop. Ridiculous! So the table is just a giant sink hole because (if the pot is more than $12) they take $4 in rake (10% of a buyin!)

So just due to the rake alone , you save yourself a lot of pain. Online rakes are much better, and you can play SO SO SO many more hands.

That said, it's fun to get out with the boyz and play some live poker - don't get me wrong, it's a LOT of fun. It's just better IMO to play online.

Live, cash games.

The money is better, the social aspect better and my poker game is better.

I guess I like online better because it is where I play 95% of the time. The bad thing (well good thing sometimes) is that online players usually are alot better. At least that is against the people that I play with live from around here. lol

Love live play but the rake can be brutal... nothing like a week in Vegas though.

^ very, very good point.

I'm 50:50 these days. Live play is still my first love, but online just has too many benefits (fast action at any level, any time) to be overlooked.

I enjoy both for different reasons. I like playing online with all the tracking and software tools. Plus playing in your underoos is fun. Yes, I still wear underoos cause I like to feel like Superman (don't you judge me).

I play live every weekend and it's fun as well, but the boys don't like to see me in my underwear and none of them understand when I ask them to hold signs with their VP$IP and PFR percentages above their heads. Greedy bastards.

I only know one player that says he would rather play online 90% of the time - jcamby33 he plays on pokerstats and on fulltilt under a dif. name. He makes a crap load of cash so he would rather be able to play 8 tables at once vs. 1 table live.

Me - LIVE is my game. I'm up approx. $3000 this year live and down about $2000 online so you do the math which I like better. Plus live there is more social interaction and I can get better reads on people vs. online.

brilliant! and agreed

BUT......folding 30-50 hands per hour online is alot more entertaining than folding 20 0r so hands per hour when playing live. I guess there are too many variables to list

I have just played live once - after 2 1/2 hour of play and still with 82 out of 144 players left I lost my patience and overplayed a pair of QQ

...that was my first piece of homework...patience skills or dont play

I'm no good in person because I need to know the chip amounts. Although, whenever I play in person its with friends that never play poker and bet with anything and everything.

I'm only 19, so for now it's online. The only expierience I have live is a league game freeroll, which people arent trying to play seriously, just having a good time. As soon as I turn 21(or sat. into an EPT event) I'll be playing live more often, but online will still take the cake for this one

Playing live is a lot more entertaining.

But I like the convenience of online play. I can play any time, I have software to track all sorts of stuff, the pot size is displayed on the screen, hit exactly the type of game type/level I'm in the mood for, etc.

I think that live poker would be way too slow for me to handle, I get bored if I am playing less than 4 tables at a time . And I'm pretty sure I would always be asking the dealer how big the pot was, people would probably get sick of me.

Started out in '69 playing live, guess I'll stick with my tried and true.

If I want action at 200 mph I'll take up NASCAR, not poker on multi-tables ...

I like the live play, because unless you can sit thru at leat 5 or 6 hours at a time ,it is way too tiring to play seriously online

live-much easier to read your opponent. I am scared of the cash tables, so I stick with the tourneys.

BOTH

I like to play both!
online you play more hands per hour and increase the money you can win.
but playing live has the real poker emotion! the tells, the bluff, the breathing...

I am online all the way, altho most of my youth was spent at live tables. Online is where all the players, and chips, and fish, are at.

In a few years thats all there will be. Kids coming up today know nothing but cyberspace. WPT etc. are just fluff beside the amount of dollars flowing online.
