Do most people pay attention???

When I play, I make notes on people on what hands they will call 5x BB raises with, if they play just top 10 hands, loose, tight, etc. I also pay attention to the hands that I'm not involved with. Apparently this is not the norm?

This evening I witnessed proof that people simply do not pay attention.

Here's the situation, playing in a 6 person SNG and one person was sitting out the entire time. Never once played a hand, had the little (Sitting Out) under his name. We'll refer to him as Sleepy. Then we had Dopey and Bashful at the table too.

Sleepy was in the big blind. Dopey called and everyone folded around to Sleepy who auto checked ( he was sitting out... ) Flop comes, Dopey checks, as does Sleepy. Turn... Dopey checks... Sleepy checks. River... Dopey checks as does the AFK Sleepy. Dopey loses the hand at the showdown.

I'm yelling at the screen. " Bet something you MORON " to no avail.

Next time Sleepy was in the BB, Bashful calls and everyone folds, Sleepy auto checks. Flop comes and it's Bashfuls' turn. Does he bet? Nah, he's too bashful. Does he check? nah, he's afraid. HE FOLDS !

My brother in law turns and says to me "Thats the worst poker I've ever seen"

LOL - happened at this site's Dream Poker freeroll too - after 3 "lol" and "lmao" i had to tell the player the 2 to his left had been sitting out for the last 45 minutes - cue a 4th fold.

Some people fall way too much in love with clicking the check/fold button - excusable if you're multi-tabling to fold to a sitting out player (everyone has done a brain dead move like that sometime during their playing days) once, but anymore and you should just hand over your $$$$ to the rest of the table and save us all the time and energy.

I've seen on more than a few occasions players in tournaments folding their hands when it only costs them 20 chips into a 2K+ pot - if I'm holding 7-2 off after the river I'm calling just because the pot odds are too good not to call.

Yep, I've been here. Almost caused me to bubble in an SnG too, when we were down to 4 people and 1 was sitting out the whole time... they let him win freaking 2 hands.

It's amazing that people can't see the sit out notation! What is equally hilarious is when the play has folded all the way around and the player in the SB folds to BB who is sitting out.

I think many don't realize that you can raise a sit out and they will fold. It has to be that simple!

You feel like screaming at them at times - just raise goddammit

Was there a buyin for this sit and go????

I can't believe people who take the time to pay to play would be that idiotic to not notice. I mean once in a while even the best person can slip up.

As my favorite Blue Collar Comedian Ron White says, "You can't fix stupid."

Well, personally I always take notes. Don`t see how you can expect to win otherwise. Especially in a Sit & Go, the end game is so much easier if you have a decent read on your opponents.

Effexor mentions Titan. Much as I like Titan, it can be a bit frustrating because the space for notes is very limited. I`ve had to invent my own set of abbreviations and acronyms to try and get some useful info squeezed in. Ultimate (for example) is so much better with its big note-space and the colour coding system.

That is one of my big pet peeves about Ipoker Sites. Terrible note taking setup. The only real way to do things is either use a lot of abbreviations which can be confusing at times. Or, takes notes on the side and use those notes instead of the note taking feature.

To be fair to Titan (and sister sites), the Hand History feature there is really good. That is also important if you`re trying to study the opponents.

Egon,

You are absolutely correct here. In fact I might even go so far to say it is one of the better hand history features I have come across. Place like Absolute and Jetset are graphic based as well. But, you really only get what happened on the river. Ipoker sites give you the entire hand to study. Which is much better. I think Full Tilt does this as well. My only pet peeve with the hand history is there is no way to import the info in a program like Poker Tracker.

Once the game's finished the histories gone at Titan isn't it? You cant access them later like Party Poker and Pokerstars i dont think which sucks.

You can if you email support (if you want to take the time). I've done that before.

I hate it when I need to email the suppport team for things like that. I feel kinda dependant on them, which is by no means what I want to feel.
Why do I need to wait a few hours before I get the hand history I want to analyse now?

I doubt most people pay that much attention but the pros probably have to in order to maintain an edge. Information at the table is POWER.

I have seen that when I first started and couldn't believe it. I was in one where I always raised from the button with the BB sitting out and the SB always folded, he never caught on and the other players were either nice enough not to say anything or too stupid to notice.

I love taking notes at Pokerstars, it's nice when you meet up with somebody later in tournys and you already have a note on them from some other tourny. When I started I would take notes like "beat my trips with a gutshot" and "hit his 2-outer on me" which were not very productive, I would see one of these guys again and be on Tilt before I even played a hand. Now I make smarter notes about betting patterns, positional play and starting hands, especially against calling stations, nothing worse than Donking off your chips to them.

titan has increased their room for notes at least tenfold. be happy you weren't playing there when you could put about 6 words total.

oh great; they do that after I leave...
That's one thing that I remember - all my notes on titan are either in a code i had to make up or short form because there wasn't enough space to type:

t/a o.v. tptk E sng AK 5BBs PF

....huh?

The problem with Titan is, after awhile, my notes disappear! What's up with that? Same thing for people I put down as my buddy.

^^^same thing for me!

The weird thing is that not only do they disappear, but I sometimes see a player who I see often (say a CC reg.), and one day his notes will be gone, and another day they wont
Also if I search buddies, people will come up who I know I added to my list, but their names won't have the buddy box checked...i just don't like their software anymore :/
