The more detailed the better but you can crush yourself with the speed of online play. I stick to very specific things in my notes for people look like this: The first number is the bet and then the cards. so the first one would read "4xBB raise w/ KK 3xBB raise w/ 10 10, 7xBB w/ KQ suited." I just want to know if it was in early, middle, late, small blind or big blind when the do it. I will leave any general notes that I take on a nice play or donkey move at the top. titans4ever overvalues top pair, slowplays sets, reraises w/ any 3 flush cards to scare EP raise - 4KK 3TT 7KQs EP limp -AA AT KQs MP raise - 4JJ 5AJs 2KK MP limp -KTs QQ KJ TT LP raise - LP imp - BB raise - BB limp - SB raise - SB limp - After awhile you will get their range of hands that they will raise/call in each position and limp with. Patterns will show up with time. this will help reduce what you have to remember in each hand and quickly look at the info.

depends...you need to know what the player has, by seeing their hand, to be able to tell what exactly they're trying to do... It's not a matter of how many hands you've played it's a matter of how many they've played...IMO .. .I think it's a correct assessment....anyone? Last edited by wsorbust : 5th June 2006 at 4:22 AM.

re: Cry For Help poker Yeah, I can only note hands that go to showdown so it can take awhile. You can use how fast you get notes on someone as how loose or aggressive they are. By not having notes on someone that is playing alot of hand, that is a sign of being very aggressive since you don't ever get to see their cards and they are winning pot before the showdown. Having lots of notes on someone means they are loose or maybe a calling station since you see alot of their cards. You could have to play 1000s of hands to get a set of notes on one person but you can start to get a feel of someones play after 1/2 hour to hour when you are paying attention. The nice thing about most sites is that if you use their stuff it lasts forever. I don't take notes during tournaments but if I am at a ring game I will since people are creatures of habit and you will run into people again and will have alittle background on them over time. I have seen the same people at levels over the last couple of months and have some nice notes to look at when I see them again. Notes still only help so much. You can still play textbook poker against most people and can do ok. The notes will just enhance your game, not make it. That is my opinion about notes anyway.

I tend to mainly note bad plays and the ones that show themselves as being very tight (i.e. only raising with the nuts). That way I can avoid playing against someone who will definitely have the best hand if they play, and know which players have easily exploitable weaknesses in their game. Other notes like aggression are handy, but willingness to chase weak draws, play low-only draws in Omaha H/L, etc, those are the first things I'm looking for.
