Craziest SnG I've ever played
So this morning I played in a $20 SnG, 9 players. Played pretty well and got to heads up with another player in a very long battle, meaning the blinds were already quite high. So eventually the blinds are 600 and 1200 and we're almost even in chips with approximately 6750 each, although I had a little bit more. Well I hit two pair on the flop, he bets it, I push, he calls, and I see that he has top pair. Cash it, baby. ...Until he RIVERS me with a two pair of his own, his being better. I cringe, because it's been a while since I've won one of these things.
I'm in near anguish at this point, and we say "gg", although I realize that I've got 460 chips left, to his 13,040. I have less than the blinds so I'm automatically all-in with a Q5. He shows KK. Flop is KJ7. So much for that miracle. Turn is a 9. River is a 10. Well I'll be damned, I hit a gutshot straight and doubled up. We both "lol" to that. Next hand, 64 offsuit, I'm automatically all-in again. I pair my 4 and double again. A4 and I'm still barely over the blinds so I actually push on my own this time, and I win AGAIN, with ace high! Next hand I have suited K7 and he pushes me this time. The blinds are most of my stack, so I might as well. I hit running 7s to beat his JJ! Now we exchange "wtf"s. I become chip leader after 4 consecutive hands of pure lotto luck!
I went on to win 8 of the next 12 hands with blinds at 600 and 1200 and, near the end, 1000 and 2000, in basically an all-in lotto to win the damn thing! I'd have even won before that when I had HIM all-in with my AK vs. his 94 offsuit, but he two paired the flop and won! It was some kind of worst-hand-wins extravaganza!
So even when the other guy has literally 30 times your stack, remember it's not over. Chip and a chair. I guess that's the moral. Also, try not to river me or karma will get you.
