| Costly table talk Today when I was playing $200 PLO8, somebody had to gloat when he called my $40 bluff on the river. It was a good call, and not one of those desperation calls you often see people make, so he was doing something right. Anyway the talk went something like this: Opponent: I knew it! Me: Well, good for you! Opponent: I knew because I've been watching you I was playing 3 tables with this guy, and I hadn't even noticed him at any of the tables. So I had no read on him whatsoever, and he obviously had a good read on me, but he just gave me some very valueable information because he couldn't keep his mouth shut. I continued to play 3 tables with him for around 2 hours, where I played several pots with him and the information he gave me proved to be very valuable. When I had the goods I could make a potsized value bet because he "knew" I was constantly bluffing, and when I would normally bluff I just checked it down, and this saved me a bundle to. If he knew this, I'm pretty sure he would have kept his mouth shut |
