Costa del Poker shut down

Not a big site, but some of us have played there because of Martin's connection with CC a long while back.

"Costa Del Poker and its Affiliate Manager Martin Macdonald are involved in a poker freeroll password theft ring and are benefiting from theft and intellectual theft. Their web host closed them down after finding them guilty of such acts. It would appear that they are trying to open on a new host. In addition, Mr. Macdonald states in emails and proclaims that he is not involved with them, but he clearly posts on this forum that "we opened up a password website" and "I have a vested interest"... "

Wow, I just tried logging-on to there as that's one of 2 places where I have an ok bankroll, and find it's closed, so I google it, and this thread comes up, lol.
A few of us from here did some beta testing befre it opened, and built up some nice bankrolls from rewards from the testing bit.
Bit of a shocker really, as it was a nice site, and Martin seemed genuinely a nice guy(which he still might be, not saying he's guilty or innocent.)

Wow, this is actually news to me as the last time I spoke to Martin, I was sending him congrats on his new baby.

I know that we had a few minor problems with the league here, as it would take forever to get to the final game, but Martin always came threw for us, and was always a nice guy, so I'm a little surprised to see that he is or maybe involved.

Always had good games there for the league and Martin came across as an ok person, haven't played there since the league (eventually) ended but a shame to hear

I've been exchanging emails with the address there. They seem legit.

Today I recieved confirmation from a Costa del Poker address that my funds are being sent as per my request.

Last time it took a little less than a week to arrive via wire transfer, so we'll see.

This may be a stupid question, but it they do payout my withdrawal request, would it be safe to ask for a Neteller transfer from them?

Don't know KD, Neteller stopped servicing Canadians a long time ago.

I got a check from them last time, arrived in a week.

Well the only thing I can tell you is please don't ask for a cheque as It took me about a yr to clear things up with costadel for 800 Euros, and I still have to attend court on May 27th due to the whole situation. It's a long story.

I'm sure they will let you know the options when you request a withdrawal. I still have about 100 Euro's there, won on the league events, I'm not even goin to make an attempt.

wow, hope you get paid Aloe.

truth is, i havent got much there, but it's worth the time to send a couple of emails etc if there's a chance of a payout. I reckon that chance is a coinflip at most though.

Dunno, KD. I am optimistic. The email address given appears to be network support, not Costa Del. If they are covering the withdrawals from "Head Office", they are sure to be good for it.

The forum may have been shut down since I found the post, KD. Basicially it talked about how Martin was connected with the freeroll site in spite of his claims against it, and how the site had been shut down.

Guys, the email address on the website has been pretty responsive to me. They had some connection with the actual site as they sent to me the banking info that I had sent to cash out last summer for confirmation. This was followed up by an email from a CDP email address stating that my withdrawal request had been processed.

I only had 68 Euros there this time, but they say that it will go through. Time will tell.

I got my money too, via wire transfer, less charges by my bank for the transfer.

I thought I'd do a search on Costa and came up with this too.

Facebook Platform Developer Forum / Martin Macdonald of MOG Media Ltd.

Ah, Martin. What have you been getting yourself into?

Update: I got my money back via Neteller with no problem.

I am back on the network again now. In the absence of a CC link, I joined BetDaQ Poker, for no better reason than that they have an advert in the current issue of "Inside Poker" - I am a subscriber to that mag.

I`m a bit reluctant to recommend BetDaQ, because they charged me a fee to deposit with Neteller, which I have never encountered at any other poker room, and which seems OTT. Still, their software works fine and I am back in the games now.

Good for you Egon.

I kinda miss that site, for the maniac 6 max players, and for the Java web interface so I could play on any computer.

It`s easy enough to join again, guys. Come on in, the water`s fine.

There are more than 100 portals on the network. I am not sure which to recommend. Most seem to be small and obscure, or primarily aimed at mainland Europeans, or both.

I picked BetDaq because it is an Irish company (therefore English speaking), and has interests in other businesses and seems large and prosperous (therefore unlikely to rob me of my paltry few Euros). There may be better choices which I haven`t found yet.
