Also probably to prevent others still in hand from seeking advice from railers or players sitting at table to make the call or fold.

I'm pretty sure this is almost standard on all poker tables, but why? It's obviously to prevent collusion... Lets say you hold AK and flop comes 6 7 7. One of the people at the table could've folded 6 7, and he announces it. You can almost rule out people pairing the flop, which gives you an advantage because of your high cards.

Definitely to try and stop collusion and there is always going to be someone that will ask what do you have whether the player is telling the truth or not or some other smart reply this way they have to wait until the hand is over.

A player moves all in for his tourney life and it's folded to the BB. He's tight and a bit inexperienced. And at about that time someone not involved in the hand chimes in and says "youre basically pot commited... It's a must call". He calls with his 9 high and catches the flop and you are out mumbeling to yourself.
