Casinooooo poker 1/2

This Post may be TL;DR but its my first casino trip report. Casino Rama.

Hey I played today for the first time live, I was strictly an online player making sure I could be a winning player before treking to live play.

Overall live poker is really loose. I mean like most hands were limps with 7-8 players, or like "oldman1" raises to $10 and gets 5 callers. WTFF??

Anyway I adapted quickly by watching and picking my moments to strike... BIG preflop raises when I had something, no worries I'd always get at least 2 callers. Literally I had to bump it up to $20 to get most fools out.

I got a few questions - how do I avoid getting pummled by the rich asians that play anything? Example, im on the button with AK in say, 4 limpers to me I raise to $15. Usually I will get 2-3 callers. Pot now is =$ 55

Flop Q T 6

Do I even risk a continuation bet? I think not. Bluffing appears to be suicide. But I mean even replace AK with JJ or 1010? These guys are notorious for flipping over K6, K8, 6 8, 89, 55 etc etc... its just gross what they win a $100 pot with......

I watched a guy get delt KK about 8 times in 3 hours.

saw one L.asian call a guy holding 55 call to the river to like a 6K3TJ to get beaten by a K8.

asfgsadff? aaaerettyhyuujjj? hhhMMMMMM????? Btppfftkkddt.

I dunno I bought in for $200 and left with $280 after 3 hours.

A hand that pissed me off was I was delt 1010, guy raises to $15 no idea what he has so I called and waved bye bye to it. Luckily no callers but me.

Flop 10 5 J

He bets $20 I call.

Turn J

He checks I bet $30 he folds. <---???!?!?!?@?!#@#!@#!?@#?!@#!?@# Should I have checked? Bet like $20?

I guess he wasnt a laggy asian, 3 at the table and I couldnt get of them.

Anyway it was somewhat interesting but I left overall afraid of how looose they were and different strategies I would use if I go again on Monday.

ROFL - sounds a lot like the live $1/$2 game at my local casino.

I think what we've got to remember is that, online, you're playing against people who logged on to play poker. However badly they play it, that's what they came to do. Whereas in a casino, you'll often be playing against people who turned up to gamble.

Sure, some of them might have come along specifically to play poker, and they understand the game. But plenty of them will be sitting at the table just because it's a change from craps or blackjack or the slots. They're used to taking the worst of it against the house, so what's a few hundred in a game like poker?!?

Hmmmmm ok, that actually helped alot... I just have to view the player diffrently. I'm not use to playing multiple crazy gamblers at my table and because its my first time at casino poker room. Like online if you see a person this crazy they are gone before I could get their money...

Im not use to playing these types of ppl, ill just have to adapt more.

You could try playing a short stacked strategy. Use math to grind them down.

It is a bit of a shock to the system, I played my first ever live poker game last week in a tournament at our local casino, and came to the conclusion fairly quickly that I was playing much, much too tight. The winners of the tournament were those that had built enormous piles of chips early from taking down those really loose players, not people like me who tend to play ultra-tight in a donk-fest. I'll go back tonight, and see if I cope with it any better this week...

I know exactly what you mean by loose at the 1/2 tables.....I played at the Borgata in AC and I was underage...about 19 i think...but anyways there was insanely loose callings and a lot of drunk guys calling all ins with hardly any outs and low flush draws...frankly i didnt like it at first but then easily took down pots by them not hitting and walking away with over 300$ profit on my first trip to a casino and i was underage lol...I turn 21 next Nov. so I cant wait to go back!!

Cool, read whole article - ill try...... we will see how it goes.

yeah im 19 myself so i cant go to vegas yet, or ac, how did you get in being 19??

Id like to do what you described, trapping them when they just bet blindly into you. I wasnt able to do so however because of my tighter play imo.

Therein lies an interesting dichotomy in casino poker - at least, there's one at the levels we're likely to be playing.

The cash games will have lots of loose fish in them, so you can play a rock game in them and still get paid off when you hit your big hands.

The tournaments, on the other hand, tend to be set up with (relatively) short stacks and fast blinds. Once you've paid your entry fee, the casino's made all the money they're going to make off you for the next few hours. So they want the tournament over as soon as possible, so you can either go back to a cash table and start paying them rake again, or bugger off so they can sell your seat to someone else. Therefore, you're forced to play the tournament fast.

Always know the kind of game you're getting into.

Came second out of ten in the first STT tonight, so I won some money. Second one I came fifth out of ten. Third one I bubbled in third place. So overall I paid £71 out, won £55, so I was £16 down on poker. Won £15 on Blackjack while waiting for tournies to start, so my night out cost me the grand total of £1 - including drinks and food. Quite happy with that for my second time playing live poker...

Next time I'll be concentrating harder on not bubbling!
