Hi! I am a newbie to online poker room, although I've been playing Holdem for quite a while with some of my friends. Recently one of my friend introduced me to one of the online poker room, its ibcasino. I open an account, do some deposits, and try to earn some good cash there. And what happen? The casino ripped me off! And the scam was so obvious, I was so many times amazingly beaten by the other players (or should I say bots). And then I found this forum, where everybody was talking about how good online poker rooms are, like pokerstar and ultimate bet.

So my question is are you guys sure those poker rooms really really free of bots? Or any kind of scams? Just to think that, where did they earn money from, if the money was just circling among us the real players.

So the bottom line is, I need some convincing just to give another try to online poker rooms.

Regards,
NutZills

Only reason why people get mad at poker rooms is because usually of bad beats.....they see so many that they think it's rigged....but most don't realize that they are seeing over 100 hands an hours verus 1/4 of that if playing live....so everything seems more intensified.
I cant convince you....but can say just stick to the bigger sites...stars, and ftp they have decent security to protect against it.....
And the biggest key is....if YOU CANT AFFORD TO LOSE what money you put on THEN DONT PLAY ANYWHERE.....but if you can and want to enjoy yourself then PLAY

Plenty of us here make money playing online poker. Some more than others.

You have to realize that 75% (or something close to that) of players out there lose money playing poker online. So just because you're losing doesn't mean that you're playing against bots.

I went through about four poker books (reading a couple of them twice) and a bunch of tutorial videos before I became a winning player.

Getting "amazingly beaten" by bots doesn't make sense, and I'd guess that you have a bit to learn before you can correctly identify what's going on at the tables. Bots don't do amazing beats.

As for trying a new site, PokerStars is a good one, and CardsChat offers a nice additional bonus. Full Tilt is also good.
Basically, these are the two big names in poker. They make a good amount of money from the rake in their games, and the invest millions in advertising and endorsements to keep their image up. Any cheating is bad for business, as they're making 5% of the pot in the thousands of ring games they have going at any given time, and 10% of the entry fees to their S&G's and tournaments.
I guess they *could* still be cheating, but it'd be like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

I agree in its all in where you play.
It looks like you picked a smaller site.I've never heard of.
So far I have sent for checks at two of the larger name sites and my checks were here inside of 2 weeks. Also I have won swag and and the clothing they sent was excellent quality.
Pesronally I have never made a deposit,Just winnings from freerolls and taken that to sng's then to the cash tables from there. Makes it more like monopoly money then cash. So I don't feel as if I'm playing with scared money.
Try this method for a while and see if your opinion changes...
Good luck and have a blast..Bearcat

Online games have players from all over the world. Some are very good, some very bad and all points in-between. But even the smallest stakes games will generally have better players than your buddies from work or the neighborhood. You are the same as players who say 'I won all the time in the play money games' but never win in the cash games. It is very difficult to win consistantly.

Reply on Internet Poker

Hey,

That is one great advantage to belonging to Cardschat. You can get all these questions answered by the members who are "long at the tooth" so to speak.

Take you time, and research through the forum. I fould them to me be very reliable.

I would not answer your questions as I have only been playing on line poker a couple of years with lots to learn.

However, I know that lots of these sites go belly up. And, does not matter to me as have none of my money invested.

Build up a bankroll by playing the Freerolls and then play for real money. It is a long haul, but doable.

Good luck to you.

Be sure to check out the reviews of the various sites by clicking on the poker site Review tab above... and should you decide to sign up for one, be sure to use the CC link provided.

As for the "bad beat" thing:
first read through this thread https://www.cardschat.com/forum/general-poker-13/rigged-aa-test-100791/post-677663.html
(well some of it at least... over 550 posts in it so ya might want to skim it)

second you have to remember there are a lot of people playing online that would never play "live" and you also see way more hands per hour than you'll ever see live..

For an interesting (gee.. my modesty is showing.. ok, so I thought it was interesting when I wrote it) take on the "relative donk-ness" of online tables and some actual math showing how they hit what they hit see: [old link~tb]

I had never took the time to calculate the "multiple any two cards will do donks at one table" effect before...
