| Building a bankroll Gday all, Not long back I was down to absolute zero, (Full Tilt), I then watched a video of Chris Furgusons, win $10,000 in 18 months, from nothing. I thought to myself, now thats a challenge. So here I am BROKE, with some of Chris' advice, thinking where im going to get cash from, it worked out being the Australian Regional Freeroll, (it pays $2 for 10-27 place). So now I too have now won my first $2, my next step was to work out how to get it moving, after much pondering, I decided to go for cash ring games, (only cause $1.10 Sit-n-go just didnt seem a good choice to start with), and i was on my way, 40c min. buy-in, 1-2c BB. Well its been 1 month now, and im now over the $20 mark, (im not a big Full Tilt player, maybe an hour or so daily. Gotta go now, I'll keep you all posted on how im going each month. If anyone has a similar story, I would love to hear it. |

| "isohatedis" , You are totally right, $10.000 would be a huge task, as im just a mere mortal, unlike Jesus (Chris Furguson), I might just go at my it, at my own pace, and see what I come up with. Lets just hope i can keep hold my money, as Im just an Amateur at On-line Texas Hold 'em. And also to "tami jo darling" , yes, I too, think to myself, how did he do it. |

| re: Building a bankroll poker If you were to put in a bit of time learning SNG Strategy I personally would look to play the $0.70 SNG Satellite to BLT (top 3 win $2.20). It's an easy game with alot of really bad players in it (although you'll also find a couple of others w small bankrolls trying to build up & who've actually won a decent amount of $'s by playing them). I'd personally recommend these games to anyone hoping to build a bankroll starting off with very little in their account. gl on the challenge! |

i would suggest the same strategy as orifice did... but only play these satellites if you only won on a cash game session and use these winnings to play satellite tourneys. also try those 0.10c tourneys at 1730 with $1000 guaranteed. |

| Hello there... I like your spirit, I always like when people set a target to reach from very small bankroll. That is also what I'm doing right now. I'm not a pro player, maybe I can categorized myself as a recreational player who love poker game but only spending 1-2 hours each day. I also start with micro bankroll ($20) and try to build my bankroll, my first personal challenge is try to reach 1000% profit or for simple sentence reach $200 and I did it in less than a month. Right now my bankroll stay at $260 (not remember the exact amount, because I'm typing this from my phone). You can check my progress from my thread and please give me your opinion that can improve my play if you have time. Cardschat members have been very helpful to me and my play, I also want to say thank you to all expert members here for all suggestions and opinions they gave to me. Please post your daily result here if you can, I would be happy to follow your progress. Keep learning, keep playing onizuka |

| I wonder if OP has any update on his progress? I have been trying the same thing -- bankroll from scratch and it's always good to hear how others are faring and their strategies for building. I've turned meager freeroll winnings of $2.00 -> $15.00 before in the past by grinding 2nl full ring shortstack (.40c minimum) buyin. But what happens is I lose focus after I get my AA cracked heads up by some crazy donk shoving 22 UTG for 40x BB, I go on tilt and lose my whole roll playing $2.20 super turbo SNG or something silly like that. I think it was a good lesson to learn while the stakes are stupidly small -- and it forced me to rebuild from freeroll again and pay heed to strict BRM. What I am doing now is attempting to freeroll build my way to a $50 bank roll, then going very strict and following a 20-buyin rule for NLHE and grinding 2nl and the .25c SNG satellites. I fear that if I start putting bankroll at risk before I have a proper roll will cause me to tilt again and waste more time and effort. There's something very psychologically damaging about losing 50% of your roll in one session when you're playing excellent poker but getting killed by suckouts... even if it's only like $5.00. But when that $5.00 is only 10% of your bankroll instead of 50%, it is much easier to stomach and to recover. |

| MrMonkey with proper bankroll management you follow very strict rules so you don't ever lose 50% of bankroll. If you can try to watch the videos and practice the lessons that Chris Ferguson has on the Full Tilt Academy site. http://academy.fulltiltpoker.com/les...oll-management |

However, when your bankroll is only $10 (or less) to begin with, there is nothing that can be done to follow bankroll management principles since the lowest stakes possible are 2nl already. Chris Ferguson actually had to make some ammendments to the rules to accommodate for his tiny bankroll when he was first starting out because of this fact. This is the reason why I want to build a $50 roll via freerolls before putting any of it at risk -- that way there is enough of a roll to actually be able to practice strict BRM. |

| Gday, Thanks everyone for your feedback, Awesome, Its good to hear from fellow players who are on the same mission. Also like to say all the best to onizuka, GL on your continuing bankroll management. An extended thanks to Poker Orifice, who pointed out the Satellites to the BLT. They have proven to be a great success, and I have also found a 60c BLT tourney that pays top 20 with a ticket. It can have a lot of players in it, but I just keep my eye out, and if there is anywhere between the 20 and say 50 players at the time it starts, then, I go for it. And to Mr Monkey, I agree that Bankroll Management Principles are irrelavant when limited funds apply, but, just by playing in micro stakes, im hoping that I will increase my fund so that I can bring those Principles into play. UPDATE ... Bankroll - $54.43 Tourney $$ 3.70 Had a couple of goes at freerolls, and it wasnt too bad at all; 7th place in the Australian $500 Pub Poker 6th place in the Australian Nightly Freeroll Top 27 in Razz freeroll Ill be posting more results as soon as it gets better. | I recently posted this strategy on another poker forum that I frequent. It took me a while to put together with screen shots, so hopefully this cut and paste job will work. If you have some Full Tilt Frequent Player Points, this is a good way to build a bankroll by satelliting into tourneys that are too big for your bankroll. Enjoy the strategy! __________________________________________________ ____________ You will need some Full Tilt Points to get started. Build them up during happy hour at the ring tables, and keep an eye on your email, as Full Tilt sends out surveys from time to time, giving out 300 FTPs to anyone that fills them out. Once you have a couple thousand or so (it could be done for less if you can find some small buyin sit and gos) set your main lobby filter to: SIT AND GO/ALL/HOLD 'EM/NO LIMIT/FREEROLLS-FTPS. You will see a list of satellites with prizes to either tournaments or other satellites. We are looking for satellites to satellites, because any satellite into a tournament awards a Tournament Ticket (which we do NOT want). A satellite into a satellite will award either a Tournament Ticket (which again we do NOT want), or a direct entry into another satellite (our goal, look for these). Here is a list of FTP satellites, with a satellite to a tournament highlighted. Notice the evil words printed, "Winners will receive a tournament ticket!" ![]() You see the evil words about Tournament Tickets in the lobby as well: ![]() Avoid these sit and gos until you have built up several thousand FTPs. But how? Well, look at this sit and go using the same main lobby filters I listed above: ![]() Notice it says that it is a "Satellite to the 3500 FTP FTOPS Main Event Satellite on Saturday, November 20th at 20:30 ET" The promised land!! You will NOT receive a Tournament Ticket if you win this satellite, you will be directly entered into the next satellite. So, you can just unregister and take the 3500 FTP instead! And the lobby says nothing about receiving Tournament Tickets like the previous sit and go's lobby did. ![]() So, here is how it is done....first my bankroll at Full Tilt (Real Money blacked out so as not to be embarrassed about how much I've lost since freerolling my $150): ![]() Register for our sit and go. Top 2 places pay, so a tight strategy is in order since you do not need to "win" the sit and go, but only finish first or second. I pay the 800 FTPs to register (no rake either!), and so my FTP bankroll goes down 800 points. ![]() But I finish second, as I seem to do about a third of the time. People don't seem to see FTPs as real money so you see some crazy play in these. It is not uncommon at all to have 2 or 3 people out of 9 going all-in on the first hand. Play tight and you will finish first or second a lot. ![]() ![]() Here is me registered for the big 3500 FTP buy in Satellite that I just won: ![]() And here is me unregistered for that Satellite I just won: ![]() . And now notice my FTP bankroll! It cost me 800 to register, but I won 3500 (against some pretty sloppy competition I might add), and so my FTPs have increased by 2700! ![]() But what do you do with the points? Well, you could get a nice hat or something. They now have an option to trade them in for cash too, if you can save enough. But I just save them up until I hit 30,000, and then satellite into tournaments with them. Big buy in (or at least big buy in for my measly bankroll). I have played in many $20-$50 MTTs that would have shattered my bankroll. You can bank the tickets for 10 years (they expire 10 years after you win them). Here is a shot of the tickets I have not used yet... ![]() Well, that is my strategy for playing Full Tilt MTTs way beyond my bankroll. I hope it will be of help to someone, it has been for me. And I am sure that I will score some money at one of these tourneys, and I will have basically entered for free! Good luck to all at the tables. |

| Some great information there serendipity! I have gotten a lot of gear and tickest of the years with my points. Now there isn't much gear that interests me that I don't already have. I have never let my points balance get that big--but now I might have to reconsider. |

| re: Building a bankroll poker Thanks for the feed back, especially "Serendipity" I havent been putting in much volume up to now. Im hoping that is about to change. The kids are settled in school and my daily schedule has changed, there is now a bit of time that can be spent playing in the mornings. Anyway long story short, I have been qualifiying for the One-A-Day Iron man freeroll each month so far, and, intend on keeping it that way. After all 1 point doesnt take long to get. BR - $89.30 TD - $5.70 As I said ill be putting in a bit more volume in my game, so I'll keep you posted. |
