Bottom set lay down
How do you // or how can you get away from a small set to lay it lay down....example... Your in cut off with 55 folded to you. Your average stack with about a 2 levels away from ITM. With only the blinds and button to act behind you.. you raise 3-4 times the BB ( you could limp also, argument can be made for that also) you get called by the SB only. Flop comes A 9 5 rainbow you hit your card you are looking for// SB checks..now you can bet out or check..again argument can be made for both.. well in this live game real situation I had..I bet out 2/3 of pot.. got raised ALL-IN ..I call.. (FEELING REALLY REALLY REALLY ... REALLLLLLLLY good...he has 99 in the PKT... and no 1 out miracle.....so my ??? is... how do I get away from that hand.. what Signs can I look for that the other guy has a bigger set.. ANY ANY ANY ANY help will be appreciated.

Well, you're not going to get it from me. With that flop I'm not sure it is possible to lay it down, as it's way too easy to put your opponent on AK since he called your preflop raise, or maybe he made a loose A9 call. What really hurts you chances here to lay it down is exactly that A on the board. At least that's me, if anyone else could fold that they're a genius to me. The way I look at it you got the worst possible situation there, someone flopping a set bigger than yours.

Just to echo everyone else, on that board, without a ridiculous read or ridiculously deep stacks, you don't get away from it.
It's entirely possible for two players to play a hand completely correctly - but one of them has to lose the hand, of course. |
