Bots on pokerstars

I've read on here about bots but I wasn't sure how common they were. I've been playing .01/.02 and .02/.05 on pokerstars. I sit down at a table with only 1 player and we are playing and then 10 people all sit down and post the blinds at the exact same time.

I write in the chat window: that looks suspicious. A bit later half of them all get up and leave at the same.

Is there a good chance these are bots or the same person playing? The bot issue might be bigger then people want to know.

Also, I'm having a hard time making any money at .01/.02 compared to .02/.05. I'll bust like 2-3 people for a dollar each and only be 30 cents ahead.

And when I say making money: I mean breaking even. I've been playing for 4,800 hands on $50. I'm down to $12 and its fluxing between $12 and $35 right now. I was up to $63 or so at the peak. I change my style from loose aggressive to very tight depending on the players.

If they're posting out of turn that's good for you. I'd like to see some proof that this happens. I can see them joining close to each other because a new game's starting up (or maybe they just see a fish lol) but I'd like to see some proof that they are all joining at exactly the same time and posting at exactly the same time. I'm assuming you don't mean a tournament because in a tournament they're automatically moved.

Report them, there's a report button in the options or you can email their support.

This isn't enough information, post some more specific stats or if you want individual hands look at the Hand Analysis sections.

I had trouble at $.01/$.02. There are a lot of people playing playing that limit because they don't want to lose money, but they still want to play with money. Those aren't the kid of people who pay off.
I made a lot more BB/hour when I moved up.

In addition to looser players, I didn't put a lot of care into my play at $.01/$.02 though. When I moved up (skipping $.02/$.05 and going directly to $10NL) there was a sting if I lost, so I paid more attention and played a lot more serious. So that was a factor as well.

I bought in for $50, played $.01/$.02 until I had $70, then took that $20 profit to $10NL and never looked back. I remember having a streak of, I think, 25 or 26 sessions in a row without a loss. (Of course, I'd get stubborn and stay an extra hour to win something and keep my steak alive)

I don't think bots are a big factor in $.01/$.02 games. There's too little to be made, and a bot with that many players seems pretty obvious. It was probably a fluke.

I really hate ring games as they are, but as for bots at that, never would happen, and the reason u dont make money at that level is simple the ppl, are beyond dumb, and call anything, gl with everything else

Can't believe someone would risk a lot to win very little (at .01/0.02).

Also 4800 hands is nothing in compared to the grand scheme of things. When you have over 100,000 hands you can start to see some things. Even then, in the grand scheme 100K hands is light. The fluxuation of varience is so significant with such a small hand count. You might see a place for some hole plugging, maybe, but you need more time on the felt for real stat analysis.

Here are the suspect accounts. I'm not saying they are bots but it appeared strange. It may have been chance.

piebox, wiki99, rb77, ldn21

BTW any check there databases and see if these players show up playing together. Its probably someone fine tuning their bot. I suspect they found us because it was 1vs1 and a high turn over rate.

If you look at those names they look somewhat bot-like too. I have noticed other suspect bots too. Maybe its my imagination but seeing bot like names with same naming conventions joining same table. I'd like to learn if this is true or not. No big deal either way.. If I am playing bots then I might want to think how I should play them.

Not to say that there are not efforts to avoid detection by bot users on ANY site, but Stars does prohibit use of bots by players and is probably one of the most aggressive sites in detecting use of interactive programs of any kind by players.

Of the 4 users you identified, just a cursory look at their stats on OPR show widely varying results and do not seem to have 'anything' in common.

Enjoy your games. I think you're looking too hard for something that isn't there.

There are bots around, but squads of bots taking over tables simultaneously? They would rock em sock em themselves out!

I'm going to be careful not to join tables at the same time as others. Don't want to be called a bot on poker forums. This is a really paranoid thread.

Why in the world would any poker site find it profitable to put a bot at the microstakes tables? I do not even think there are bots but if there were i would be more apt to believe the were in the higher limits.

The report button is only for verbal abuse. They will do nothing if a player(s) break any of the other rules.

I posted a topic about something I have noticed on .01/.02 tables at pokerstars.I haven't gotten a response yet. I have counted 9 players from Korea with the name Dream. I have watched them only limp in a few times an hour and bet only if they have the nuts. I am not sure if this is a club like Intellipoker, a farm of cheap workers or bots. I am sure that they are working together somehow and I bet there are more than 9 too.

THERE ARE NO BOTS AT 1c/2c. It is not worth putting a bot in a game that low. There is a high risk to having bots in the games, as an account can get frozen, and people taking this risk will surely want more reward for it and play at higher stakes. You would typically find that bots start out a bit at about the 2/4 limit poker levels.

With regard to making a lot more profit at 2c/5c than 1c/2c - have you checked if the rake is proportionately higher? If so, this could easily eat into your profits.

Otherwise, I suspect it's just down to luck, and there's no reason why the trend should continue.

Actually, from what I've read about bots (admittedly not much), some people design bots like hobbyists, intent on tweaking the AI to produce a higher win percentage. These bots are surely going to be tested on low level or play money tables until the person scripting them is sure they can post a consistent profit. After that, they'll probably end up on the higher tables.
