| Bodog reinstates Tracking? Don't know when it happened, but I noticed yesterday that my PT3 is working on Bodog again (they had disabled trackers some time ago)... so I will be back on the PLO tables there, after a long hiatus. Glad they smartened up |

there are a number of programs online players use to track what and how you play your hands. There are even companies that will sell players Hand Histories of other players they have never played against before. ****************************** |

| re: Bodog reinstates Tracking? poker are there any sites that ban hud's etc. altogether where us fish can play in peace, without having some half human/cyborg entity playing the numbers. 'stats' for this, 'stats' for that. its just 'plum loco' but i suppose its just part of the online scenario. |

You can play in peace there, we won't bother you with your numbers As far as I know trackers don't work at Carbon, that's the only one banning them now I think... |

| To be fair and honest, trackers are not really meant to track how others play, but rather how we who use trackers play, and against all comers how are identified by name. The trackers store, sort and stuff into a database all the things that are public knowledge about the hands we play. So don't take it like we who use them are doing anything more than increasing our memory capacity (to near perfect photographic levels) with the help of a computer program. These trackers make no decisions for us. The help us remember so when we do make decisions, we are armed with a perfect memory as to how we may have played against these opponents in the past, and how they may have played against us. They help us understand the dynamics of the game, and the table, a little faster than we would over the course of tens of thousands of hands. The 2 prime trackers are Holdem Manager (HEM) and PokerTracker3 (PT3). Most sites that take poker seriously allow their use. For sure Zynga (Facebook) and the Zen sites do not allow their use, as both explicitly state their games are for entertainment purposes only. |

What they banned was PTR-like scrapers NOT PT3. Mine has worked fine all year, and I am also a PT3 tester, so I know that it was working all the time for anyone on teh proper version. Don't confuse PT3, which is a personal statistics database, with pokertable ratings or sharkscope and the like which are result/hand scraping sites. Also, I have spoken with supervisors at bodog CS on the phone (ones I trust to know their stuff) and they also confirm as of of April or so that PT3 and HEM are NOT banned. Obviously something went wrong with your version of PT3 on your machine for reasons unknown. Mine never stopped working. As usual, Becky was posting PR spam, and it got misinterpreted. |

| Yeah, Bodog never officially banned personal trackers/HUDs, but they did actively discourage them and released updates to break them. HEM was developing their own Bodog grabber, and asked Bodog about why their updates were regularly breaking the grabber. Bodog basically said they were trying to defeat HUDs & trackers, and asked HEM to cease development of their internal hand grabber. HEM complied. So HEM users were forced to buy and use IdleMiner's Bodog grabber. Recently it has stopped working for many people, and PTR isn't in a hurry to fix it -- many suspect it's because they want people to buy HH's. PT3 has reportedly kept their internal Bodog grabber working, and some who have both PT3 and HEM are now running PT3 strictly as a Bodog grabber while pointing HEM to PT3's Bodog HH folder. Probably not for those with marginal PC's but that's about the only reliable option right now. AFAIK there are no other working Bodog grabbers on the market aside from PT3 and Idleminer, and the latter is questionable at this point. I had toyed with the idea of developing one myself, but I'm not really crazy about Bodog anyway and really don't have the time to develop and support it. Chasing Bodog's updates would be a PITA (just ask HEM). |
