Bob_tigers's poker challenge september 10th 2007 Ok guys i decided to try and throw a challenge for myself and I want to see if i can do it. We all know how chris ferguson turned 0 in to over 10k, well of course I'm not chris ferguson or phil ivey or hellmuth or w/e but I know I have just as much patience to do this and I know it can be done. My poker challenge will start today and my goal is to hit 1k or more in one year, i think i might be able to hit more but we will find out in 1 year. Just like Chris Ferguson I will have rules for this and I will follow them. So right now i have 5 cents in my account and I will update this thread everytime I win something in a freeroll. My Rules and how I'm going to complete this 1) most important rule for me...NEVER NEVER play drunk 2) do NOT play absolutely anything until my br is up to 100$ 3) if one of my friends sends me like 5$ or w/e i will just add it to the br and still not play with it. 4) I will play any freeroll I can get in and I have time for. I think thats about it for my rules and this is what I want to do and my time limits and stuff. 1) starting with 5 cents I want to build up to 100$ from playing freerolls in about 3 month. ( I will probably play freerolls on weekends when I have time to do it.) 2) once i hit that 100$ I will play only $5 $6 6 man and 9 man sit n gos. I will play 6$ heads up every once in a while, if i lose three in a row I will stop playing heads up and change to something else. 3) also when my br is over 150$ I will play 5$ 18 man and 45 man every once in a while but not 2 often. 4) once my br is at 300$, I'm allowed to play any tourney of 5$ and lower and any sit n go 11$ (9 man because thats one of my best games) and lower. and also i might play a satelite to a bigger tourney like for example 6$ turbo mtt to 26$ token, but I will stay away from it as much as possible. 5) and thats how I plan to hit 1k ^^^^. after I hit 1k if i do hit 1k, i will have a poll to decide if I want to go until I hit 10k. 6) this going to be probably on tourneys and sit n gos only, so for cash games I might play at cash games every once in a while when my br is at 300$ and I'm not allowed to bring anything over 10$ to the table once im at 25$ i leave and try to do it again. If i lose, no more cash games. Most likely i will stay away from cash games since i dont like them that much. So thats all of my goals and rules I will have and lets see if i can Git-R-Done. thanks for reading this and I will try my best to complete this. PS: I did take 2nd in horse free roll last night but i fell asleep in 5$ mtt and took 28th in it by sitting out 27 paid. i was top 15 at the break and fell asleep . well I'm starting this all over since i have nothing in my br and hopefully by next year i will have 1k.

re: Bob_tigers's poker challenge september 10th 2007 I decided to do the same thing after reading Chris Ferguson's challenge. Starting with $0 last week, I'm up to $4.04. (Btw., I only started playing poker regularly a couple of days earlier!) My rules aren't as strict, though. Only one rule, really: I can't lose more than 25% of my bankroll, before playing only freerolls to fill it up again. That's the rule until I get to $100 anyway. I'll adjust it as I move up. (Probably reducing it to 10%, with a low buy-in limit.)

important part of Ferguson's challenge Once you get a bank roll he says to only risk 5% of this. I won a freeroll back in May ( $50.00 ) did ok after that for several weeks going up and down. Then hit a cold streak and lost all but $5.45 by mid June. I then read Chris's article and have been following that rule. I have been playing the mirco fixed limit tbls (0.02/0.04) and sticking to the 5% rule the cold streaks have not bankrupted me. It has really been a grind having only 0.20 - 0.35 cents to play with at a time. But it has worked, currently at $22.29 and at the mirco fixed limit tbls (0.05/0.10) and dollar tournaments here and there,as BR allows me to risk $1.10 or there abouts. In the almost 3 months I have quadripled my bankroll. Run that out for a year = about $1500 REMEMBER the 5% RULE!!!
