| Best way to use my bankroll Hey guys, First of just like to say hello to everyone as I am new here, Come here seeking some what guidence from the better poker players that are out there currently. Not looking to be abused and I know this may have been asked plenty of times just looking for real opinions and help! The position I am currently in as got me thinking how to best use my bank roll, I play on poker pokerstars and have been for some time now not only online but face to face at the casino. I decided to place a bank roll of $880 and have read a few poker books and bank roll articals however now down to $525 after playing two $100 fifty50s. (Way past my bankroll I'm quite aware) Mostly I've been playing 1 table SNG $15 doller fifty50s, Question is should I try the normal 3 places paid $15 SNGs and 10/25c cash games? I wanted to place in $880 to make an extra $100 a week that I could withdraw and I'm interested to see what others would play to do so. I'm looking to start small before moving up to higher levels before withdrawing more then $100 a week, I rarely tilt and tend to be very patient and selective of what I play as most of us are. Just wanting a few thoughts as to am I at the right level, When would be the best time to withdraw when should I move up? |

| Hi Dane and welcome. First let me tell you that right now I'm debating and trying to learn and get myself educated in how to work my bankroll, my game, etc. So any opinion of mine should be taken with a huge grain of salt and serve mostly as a "that guys is going through the same process". I have to say that having a bankroll that is adapted to what you want to do is more important than anything else. I deposited $20 and change to play $1 SNGs and $.01/$.02 rings. As I asked questions around I got to the point I had to decided based on my time what should I specialize in. The decision was to specialize in rings. To adapt my bankroll to rings I either had a low bankroll (assuming 100BBs buy-in) or shorter buy-in. It seems like a easy discussion but it isn't. Getting in the table with 100BBs is completely different of entering with 40BBs. That is why I think that having the right bankroll is important. Calculate your freeroll depending on what you are going to play. After that, decide what you want to play. Some people advocate that you should try several things. In my opinion, you should specialize first and build bankroll for other things. It is way easier to study if you are specializing. There's a completely different mindset from SNGs to rings for instance. It's easier to study, to get more focused information and to find your own leaks. My decisions right now are to play at the levels allowed by my bankroll (knowing that I started short, my bad) but always with a minimum buy-in of 100BBs and to specialize on rings and hope that my shortish initial bankroll is big enough to move forward. |

But is rake back at $.01/$.02 ring any good? I would need a bank roll of 2500 to play at the current levels I am if I was to use 100BBs. |

| Do increase your buy-in to 100BB. It was something that improved my game considerably. If you can play at limits higher than your bankroll, by all means, do it. If you can multitable with a profit, do it. But it involves a much higher risk. I have no idea if rakeback is good, I'm not counting on it at all. |

Tracking SNG's: honestly there'll be times when you're on a heater & are running at ROI+80% for 20+games & then you'll potentially lose 10+ of them in-a-row (not the 50-50's, I'm not familiar with them... I'm talking about your typical 9plyr. SNG). The very best players will at times lose many games in succession. I think it might be better to look at the 'bigger picture' with them.... ie. track by the week, or by 100games (or more). Cash Tables (my perspective): I'll stay sitting at a cash table with 300bb+ & not leave the table if the table is still good. I'm also prepared to lose a few (or more) buyins & think nothing of it > my goal is to get my stack in. |

| Well Im back, I managed to get back up to 700 only to go down to 600 and stay stuck at 600. Varience seems be keeping me stuck and the only thing gained are the stellar rewards from pokerstars. Should I stick to the same website? Try a new website or player a different game other then 50-50? |
