Best use of Full Tilt Points

I tried to search for this topic but the threads I found are really old and I know things have changed.

What is the best bang for your FTPs ? I want to convert them to tourney entries.

Just did a little looksee, and wow, you need alot of points for these tickets. MiniFTOPS start @ 2.3K points, FTOPS start @ 22K points and the Double Deuce is 4750 points. From what I can gather the best bang for your buck is the Double Deuce or the $26 Ticket (5800).

Unless you are lookin lower in which case you might as well satty into the DD or BLT for chump change instead of wasting points. IMO, of course.

If you want to use Full Tilt Points to play tournaments, your best bet may be to use your points as a separate bankroll for tourney buy-ins. This has a couple of advantages. First, there is no rake in the point satellites, unlike their cash satty counterparts. Second, the point satellites are softer than cash ones because people don't treat their points as if they were as valuable.

I never pay for my tournament entries anymore, I grind away points until I have enough to get in.

keep accumulating those points

check out what you can get at the full tilt store:

1 log in
2 hit your cashier button
3 click on the FULL TILT STORE (lower left side)
4 see what tickets you can buy for the points you have so far

It really depends on your goals as a poker player. My goals are
1. Purchase items from the full tit store so I can say, "I got this from playing poker without having to put a single cent of my own money at risk."(I;m on the Chris Ferguson challenge.
2. Make a little money to contribute to either bills or enterainment outings
3. Improve my game to the point where I will be able to be competitive at 5k and 10k buy in levels, even if such events are only once in a blue moon for me.

If you are pure money player(No interest in any full tilt merchandise) Save up points then buy step 3 or higher tickets. Also, if you play enough to earn iron man, you can use iron man medals to purchase more ftp points.

$5k cash bonus in black card store >> custom avatar, and it only costs 100k points more.

Otherwise, reselling ipods on ebay is often the best value for points if i recall correctly.

You don't say how many points you have. That kind of matters. It would be a different evaluation for 1000 points vs. 1 million.

I don't really let points accumulate. Usually, I buy Step 1 tickets and build up on the Steps. The Step tourneys are usually not that hard -- it's rare I don't get at least my buy (step ticket) back. The goal (for me) is to get a lot of Step 3 tickets, which lets me play some tourneys that are more expensive than I would normally play.

Do you have rakeback? Does using points for these satellites count against your rakeback?

No, this is my own homemade rakeback. I think this method would not be as productive for someone with rakeback, as they would lose some for every point (and every extra point won) they spent.

But for a micro grinder with no rakeback like me, it is a great way to play medium and high stakes tourneys without depositing.

Great read serendipity! I used to do the same but even more extreme. I would play in the .com freerolls where the top 2 out of 180 (tourney ran every 3 min) would win 50 FTPs. I would then play the 50 FTP to the 2.5k FTP (1st won 2500 FTPs, 2nd won 200 FTPs). Then I would usually buy something nice from the full tilt store since I was very new to poker at the time and felt I would get more use out of a hat than a 2,500 FTP (~$3.75) buy-in.
Anyway, FTPs are worth about 1/2 cent per FTP. So do some math and decide what items (if any) are worth buying in the full tilt store, or which tourneys you would rather play.

Personally, I like to buy in to tournaments that aren't really in my buy-in range. It's fun to play a few bigger money tournaments every once in a while. Not sure if it's the most profitable way, but I like it.

In my opinion, the best usage of the points u earned is to buy a ticket for a tourney! this way you get a chance to boost your bankroll and you get the opportunity to expirience what high buy in torneys feel like!

high guys, sorry to bring up an old thread but thought this was relevant.

i just played a 800ftp sat to the 3,500ftp ftops ME sat, won the tournament but then when i unregistered it gave me a 3,500ftp tourney entry ticket...

anyone else had this and does it just apply for the ftops sats? seems like they are trying to stop you building an ftp mountain from scratch.

If you read the link that serendipity posted, it explains the difference between a sat that awards a ticket and a sat that awards points. It says right on the lobby of the sat that it will award a ticket if it awards a ticket, but if it doesn't say you will be awarded a ticket than you can unregister for the points.
