Best site to start with $0

I'm pretty new to the whole online poker scene. Being a relative newcomer, and not wanting to part with the little money that I have, I have taken quite some interest in the freerolls that the poker sites run. It's just my luck that I somehow miss the majority of the free rolls on the sites that I have started to play (poker room and full tilt). I am not complaining about the freerolls having such small prize polls, money is money, and free money is even better, but I do now that those two sites cannot be heads and shoulders above the competition when it comes to freerolls, everyone is trying to compete in this, like any market.

I was wondering with everyone's experience on the board what they find to be the best place to play the freerolls, not only best prize pools, but number of freerolls a day/week, etc. any input you guys have is welcome

Thanks in advance

Supposedly a non-U.S. friendly site called Noblepoker hosts the best freerolls. I believe because of the large prize pools. Other than that the cardschat freerolls on full tilt are very very good. I have never played any of the other freerolls so I couldn't tell you about those.

And welcome to Cardschat!

Absolute runs plenty of freerolls I believe, but unfortunately you need a deposit before you can withdraw any winnings of any sort.

Pick any poker room and play a lot of poker. Play money + free rolls. You don't have to play exclusively on one site. Just keep playing and think about why you win/lose a hand. You can get some high quality play on full tilt's play money at the higher end levels. Besides that I think play money is a waste of time :P

One thing that one of my friends recommended was having several poker rooms up and write down their scheduled freerolls. This way you can navigate between the different sites freerolls with ease.

After you win some money in a freeroll, you're probably ready to make your first deposit if you want to continue to grow as a player. GL.

The freeroll grind is a long long trip.

Ideal freerolls are private, and have restricted fields. Alternatively small payout freerolls will attract fewer entrants.

CC has what looks to be the best private freeroll on Sundays at FullTilt at $400 and limited to 900 entrants.

Forget PokerStars, oddly they have advanced freerolls (WTF?????) sad but true.
Bodog has good prizes, but understand what is going on there before you sign up. They have new player freerolls, without a deposit, for like the first month you are there. They are daily, with very small fields.

Ultimate has $50 freerolls almost on the hour.

Do yourself a favor and us, and use our links to download the sites. You will lose nothing and we will get an ever so small reference kickback (of sorts).

Bodog

I started the same way a few years ago...There are tons of small cash freerolls everywhere, but you have to get past a few thousand players to make a dollar or two. I found Bodog's daily $1000 and $500 freerolls and played them until I won a few(1st pays $220 in th 1K,99 people paid). Then I took that money into the beginner game Sit and Go's, $4.40 entry - 10 players at a table with 50% of the field paid.

By playing very tight I could almost always make a little proffit at every one of the $4.40 begginer SnG games. Although 5 players are paid you actually have to make a least 4th place to see a proffit, it's not that tough to do. 5th place pays $4.00 so you loose the rake of .$40, but get paid backthe $4.00 entry fee. If you find yourself on the bubble, hang tight and someone will ge greedy and get knocked out...putting you in the money

Make sure you get into the Cardchat sponsored games too! There's a freeroll and a buy in game, play them well it's one more way to build your bankroll! You'll also get to play with some of the gang too, making it all the more fun.

Once you get a bankroll going you might try playing a $4.40 sattelite game to win an entry into the weekly $100K game and take a shot at bigger money. Just make sure to manage that bankroll and take your time moving up in stakes or you'll be back at square one!

Bodog is US friendly and there's a link at the top of this page where you can download it free....can't get any easier than that!

And like DJ said if ya download from here it helps make this place possible with out costing you and me...I've got some great advice from these guys hat has decidedly caused my bankroll to go up! (no, I don't make a thing in referals,...my game is much better thanks to the gang here)

Best of luck at the tables,
AB

Thanks guys, bodog is out of the question for me, I'm Canadian, so I think that I might try 'stars also, but the cc freerolls on full tilt sound like quite the sweet deal. I'm not worried that the grind on the freerolls in a long journey, I'm not looking at this to start a profession (although that would be great) I'm looking at this as more of a hobby(thats not really the right word, but I'm not going to search for the perfect word now) and hopefully a little extra $$ to enter some of the small tournaments online.

ok...I just donk'd out in 15th at the cardchat freeroll at Bodog. Flopped trip 9's from a pocket pair, slow played em then somehow ended all in with the only guy with a bigger stack. He hit a straight on the river.....Still add to the account, not much but it all adds up in the end.

Lesson learned... (but I'm sure I'll do it again against an overly agressive player.... lol)

Still it's a few bucks from nothing and I can only thank Cardchat for that!

There are a lot of forums out there that have private freerolls all the time, I have signed up for a couple and posted just enough to get their passwords. All of the other forums I've been to though seem to be filled with people that are well...idiots. I'm not going to say the names of any of the forums or anything because that's not really cool but you can find them on google. You can easily make yourself a calendar of all of the freerolls that go on throughout the week on various sites.

Fulltilt has a good freeroll at night for 500,000 play chips. Not too many people and fairly easy to cash in.

Good Luck.

A lot of good advice here, I am going to try bodog out. I of course will use the link above.
I feel that pokerstars is good for begginers also. That is where I started and it is easy to get around the site.
Good luck on and off the tables.

DO NOT make the mistake of playing public freerolls, they are a complete waste of time.
EXCEPT bodog, which runs $500 and $1000 freerolls daily. Some people say fulltilt has good freerolls, they are wrong. Fulltilt freerolls have 2,700 entrants and 1st pays $15.

Try to play private freerolls like the ones here at CC. They have a better payout with less entrants and there are loads of them. Just look under the "private tournaments" tab on most poker sites, and you will see all the private tourneys that require passwords. Usually, you just have to sign up on a site to get the passwords.

Pokerstars is the worst site out there for freerolls, but probably the best for players with a micro BR. They have stakes as low as 1c2c NL and Limit 2c4c.

So my advice is, play private freerolls until you have a BR of $15-$30, then move to pokerstars and let the grinding begin. It is possible, you just need patience and good BR management. Ive done it plenty of times. Ive made about $1200 online without ever making a deposit.

GL!

Having played on many sites, and having started rolls on a few in the same way you want to do. I would definitely say Bodog is the way to go. 3 nice site FR's a day + a few private tourneys and I think the beginner S&G's, as mentioned above, are the best way to learn at lower cost/risk, they start at $2.

They have less traffic than other sites though and you'll probably eventually be drawn towards the amount of games and players on Full Tilt Poker and Stars. But go with Bodog fellow traveller.

bodog...i believe bodog is the best site , it offers 2 500 dollar freerolls a day and a 1000 dollar one...and it is the most realistic by far, i take bad beats there sometimes...but its not obnoxious...and they have a good sportsbook too.

There's a new site called T6 that just had a grand opening on Jan 1st that I've been trying out for fun (link below). Low numbers should be growing quickly once they start their marketing campaign.

It's a euro site and they are having nice freeroll specials to help build small bankrolls... I've already amassed 150 euros in 3 games since with the low numbers it's fairly easy to cash. They have a 30,000 euro guarantee for 50 euro buyin and only 91 players in the first one they had - nice value there lol.

They also give you 25 "tournament" euro's to play with when you sign up too... play a few of their 200 euro guarantee for 3 euro buyin with your freebie tournament euro's and build a bankroll this way as well. Those tournaments are only averaging ~40 players each atm and the are once every hour.

Cake Poker

I'm building my bankroll up the same way. I currently play at cake poker mostly. It is US friendly and there are multiple daily freeroll satellites to a $500 freeroll on Saturdays. The Saturday freeroll pays 60 places,
  • 1st - $88
  • 2nd - $65
  • 3rd - $45 and so on.
The best thing about both these freerolls is that there are usually only 250 entrants and the satellite pays top seven a seat to the Saturday freeroll. I play the daily satellites until I get in on Saturday, then I always have a game on Saturday for some cash. Good practice, no risk.

There are also, what they call, million dollar freeroll satellites. These run daily and top 5 out of usually around 500 win into a monthly million dollar FINAL freeroll that has a max. of 3000 entrants and pays 1st $75,000. Pretty nice for a freeroll!

Cake poker has some nice freeroll opportunities,
not to mention the maniacs who pay off tag players.

Freerolls! whew they are tough not only do you gotta play crap cards with the good to win. It really tests your skills because you have so many people who play like donks, and suck out on you with like 8-2os or 3-9 it sucks but it a way to win a little free money. I think the best freeroll site that there USED TO BE was on Jetset poker till it shut down, they had $100 freerolls , Pokerface freeroll were you can have cutom pokerface made for you. Not only that but the bounty's were awesome, even had rankings and all that good stuff but them were the good old days. sorry about the really bad run-on sentence lol . Good Luck and happy gaming.

Yours Truely,

You may care to look at T6Poker Freerolls 24/7 including 300 500 and 1000 Euro also not to many participants, and six per table max. Good Luck.

Pitbull poker might might not be a bad place to start with $0.They currently have a no deposit $10 free special running just for signing up.They run at least 16 freerolls daily. No software to download and gunk up your computer either as it runs on Flash which is kind of neat.GL

Im not sure if anyone knows this or not. But the other day i started to expand where i play freerolls, cus i'm a grinder unfortunatly, and downloaded VP24/7. played in a few fr's, and today discovered my account had $1 in it. They have micro fixed limit hold'em @ .02/.04, and also S&G's starting at .50 + .10. I won a 6-hander S&G (of course) and now have $2.50.

Sorry for pimpin out a site, just sayin you might want to check it out if you dont have a bankroll.
