behaviour at the table

I am noticing more and more that there are some very unfriendly players out ther in the online world. When they get a bad beat or even if they are not in the hand they take the time to type some stupid message in the 'message box' which most of the time sounds like it's coming from a 2 year old. My take is that everyone will get mad at the table, but acting like an idiot and making enemies is not the way to react. you win some and you lose some.................. deal with it!

Welcome to the forum, one of the joys of playing in our games is running into very little of this crap.
Regular games though, if it bothers or distracts you, turn off the chat, if not ignore it.
By the way I think it's illegal to actually spell lose correctly in poker discussions.

I find it funny when sum1 is steaming and chats abuse in the message box.
But sometimes u cant help it n get wound up that sum idiot donk calls u with 26 and sucks out to take 80% of ur stack.
I used to do it during counterstrike and type abuse to ppl to wind them up and have a lil cyber argument, some times i do it on poker to try p!ss ppl off. It's funny.
What they gonna do? Cyber wack me?

On a related note, I used to hate it when someone mouths off in the chat box about me being a luck box or a donk when they get beat on the river, when they have no idea about semi-bluffs, implied odds, etc. I used to get mad at these idiots and try to defend myself, but eventually I learned that the best defense was taking their chips.

I agree, the best thing to do is not reply. This just makes them think you dont really care, which is true. I agree that you get steamed when some-one rivers you but typing something just lets them know that they have gotten under your skin. Rather go and punch the cupboard door, thats the beauty of playing online

I personally find when someone mouths off like this it is awesome, sign they are inexperienced and tilting. You can use to your advantage.
On the flip side I had alot of ppl attacking me when I was learning how to play and now I know why, lol some of my hands, well alot were very bad and just lucky and I understand their frustration, However good players usually take that in stride and your chips later, it is the poor players who mouth off.

When someone gets mad because they do not understand odds and starts mouthing off at you,you should never defend your play.We do not want to make them better poker players.I usually try to reinforce the fact to them by telling them they are just unlucky and i am a lucky donk. That usually leads to them calling me off light and making bad decisions.

This. A good player takes it in stride and goes on. I find often after they mouth off there gone. I rarely say anything back. What I like the best though is when someone mouths off but fails to see WHY the player did what they did. Alot of the times the opp player WAS correct or was making a play for the pot that failed(though reasonable to make) and just sucked out and the mouth off can't see it and take note for future use.

my favorite replies usually fall into the realm of "well what'd you expect when you called me down with that hand" when they played 49o cause it was their BB i raised on and they hit trip 9s...but my trip A's sucked em out on the river....shoulda stopped callin and raised me off the pot on the flop...that's their problem for goin fishin, not mine. either that, or if they're really just sayin FU!!!! i usually say 'nh'

In one of the Poker mags, someone wrote that when someone types something like "you lucky donkey, you sucked out on the river", or something like that, just type in a one word reply..NONSENSE..it drives them crazy. I've tried that recently and it really works!

:P sometimes the chat is more entertaining than the game. I still am amazed at the immaturity of those who claim to be such GREAT poker players because they know all the odds and how dare you call my re raise and blah, blah, blah........I guess they haven't figured out that not everyone is aspiring to be a poker pro

re: behaviour at the table poker

well... this is probably an issue that relates to every poker player there is, good idea bringing it up into a topic, smart thinking.
everyone gets mad at times, including me.... ive been known to swear if i get a bad beat or some donk makes a move i cant understand.
its wrong and i know it, but i still do it from time to time, ill admit it.
i dont know about you saying making enemies, unless its in a table where you dont move around, then yes. you cna always move from a cash game where you beeing disrespected, if you beeing sweared at in a SNG< your screwed, in an MTT its just temporary.
anyway, i only say things like dummy and moron, once or twice a month ill throw the F bomb-LOL , but only if im absolutly furious at someone.
anyway, its wrong and people should try to avoid it, me too.
p.s lol, i feel good.....ive confessed and now im clean

Something actually happened to me just the other day. I was playing a tournament and it was getting close to the money but still far enough away i had to make a move I had 24k and blinds were 1500/3000k so under the gun I get A7 and I push and get one caller, he has AQ board comes Q5896 giving me a straight, he starts in on me how i'm a donkey for pushing in early position with A7 and I have no clue how to play poker and all that. I was like dude I have less than 10 BB I have to make a move what you want me to fold a ace and then get hit with the BB and SB only to get j3 or 82. So he goes on and keeps saying I just proved his point on being a donkey so I was like whatever and ignored him after that. Then about 8 hands later I get KK I raise 4x BB and get 2 callers board is
Kh Jc 4h he bets 9k so i push for a total of 38k he thinks and finally calls with Ad Jh turn and river are 5h 2h giving him the flush and of course not one word or even an apology, I figured at how much he hated being suckout on that he would hate sucking out on people also but I guess not its only a one way street for him.

I find that players get aggressive and really offensive when they are playing out of their limits, or almost out of cash. I know this from being on the 'dishing-out' end when I'm nearly broke. Every 60/40 that goes against you is a real kick in the nuts.
After my 2nd chat ban for (pretty serious) bad mouthing bad players, I have learned to just let it go. I really dont mind anymore when I take a beat.
When I kicked off at the beats before, one of the main things I drilled in was how bad a play my opponent had made and WHY it was bad. (pot odd's, no outs, calling with J high against my total bluff etc etc)
Now I realise, as the old saying go's....educate your servant, and one day he will become your master!
The more bad players there are around...the happier I will be.

Hahaha,we could be here for weeks discussing our bad beats and stupid callers, but the main fact is that poker is a gamble, and despite pott odds, position and all the other "rules" that come with playing, sometimes you feel that you just need to be in a hand even if you shouldnt, and most of the time it bites you in the ass, But that one time that you get 2 pair with 25o and you get mouthed off for it, just laugh , thats what I do. I have been watching the WSOP and I love watching Phill H get beaten, he has a reason for everything and its so not how a pro poker player should be acting. Keep the stories coming, its interesting.
