Bad Beat Jackpots

Local card club has one of these. Last I knew it was only about $220 but seemed pretty easy to win it as to qualify the losing hand only needed to be Aces over Tens FH and you didn't have to use both your hole cards. A lot of other jackpots I hear of need Quads as the losing hand and need to use both hole cards. Maybe the local club just doesn't want a big jackpot to build.

Well that is just the thing. The online ones are like a hundred grand or so, the club's are a couple hundred. Quads getting beat does not happen often, that is why the jackpot can get so high. I was thinking about playing some at a site with the badbeat jackpot games. I mean I have a hundred bucks there I have not touched yet, so why not.

the bb on Ultimatebet is quads 8 or higher and both players have to use the hold cards. My local casino just changed from a royal spade flush jackpot to a bad beat,it gets to around 40 to 50 thousand every week and all you have to do is play holdem to qualify.if i remember i thinks is any quads or higher with both hold cards..

In one of my early games, before holdem was big, I was at the Commerce Casino in LA and was playing holdem. Had no idea there was such a thing as a bad beat jackpot.

Got pocket Aces, board came Ad,Kd,Jd, then Jc and some other worthless card I can't recall. All the money for me and another person was in the pot and he turned over Qd,10d and I started to toss my hand but he stopped me, asked if I had pocket Aces, if so I would win something.

So I ended up with $1100 for losing $25. Not a bad deal.

I've played on occasion on the Ultimatebet bad beat tables. I really don't think it's worth it unless the jackpot gets exorbitantly high, above $200k or so then maybe it's time to try it.

Bad beat jackpots are a scam. Only reason they exist is so the casino can take a larger rake. Also on most sites the casino will take 10% of the jackpot when its won aswell.

And quad 8's getting beat must happen once every few million hands. I think the lottery offers better odds for a cheaper price.

Just like the terms when joining any site. READ the fine print - FIRST. Most of these have specific conditions under which they will be paid, to whom, and how.

There are also sites where the JP is shared in some small percentage around the table.

Los Angeles bad beaters

All of the card clubs aroud LA play roughly the same format for their bad beat (hold 'em) jackpots - its gotta be A full of T (sometimes J) or better beaten by quads or better, both hole cards must play. My usual haunt (Hawaiian Gardes) pays out a minimum of 2K on the $1/$2, $10K on the $2/$5, with payouts during bonus time reaching $100K - 60% to the losing hand, 20% to the winner, and the rest shared amongst the table.

I remember one guy throwing a fit because the board showed AAA76, and he was all-in with pocket J's. Unfortunately, I had A5, winning the $200 or so pot, but "cheating" him out of 60 grand because my second hole card didn't play. I still say it was his fault for going all-in on the flop. Either he should have figured he had the best hand and slow-played, or figured it was a jackpot-hand and checked down to the river. I would have checked to the turn, at least, because the jackpot could have been in if it turn/rivered 5 or under. Most players seem to agree that if you're in jackpot territory you should check down, and its usually understood that a bet in this situation means you have the nuts but can't make the jackpot.

I'm with kadafi on bad beat jackpots are a scam. I usually avoid those tables online if possible. It's more toke for the house and odds are you're never gonna hit a piece of it anyway.

Well the local clubs jackpot is up to $369 and it only gets money from cash game players that drop the f-bomb!! We'll see if it gets hit tonight. Just waiting for the 4 of a kind flop+turn.
