Avoiding temptation

We all see that A-4-2 flop when we folded ace-rag. How many times have you seen a wheel come on the river?

The topic is playing ace-rag, which I avoid at all costs unless I'm in the BB and see the flop for free. Just not playing these cards has done more for my game than any other change I've made. At the live event Friday, I probably folded ace-rag 25 times and each time (that the hand played out) I would have lost. A great number of them had an ace on the flop which can really cost you some chips. Before you play the next ace-rag, consider what you do if the flop is A-Q-J...

And even then, we need the discipline to fold the A-rag even if we flop top pair.

I will usually limp with A2/3/4/5 , and play if i hit open-ended straight or 2 pair only. Takes a lot of disiplin to fold if you hit your ace though. You also have to remember that A-rag becomes a much more powerful in a shorthanded game, and you should raise with it if you have position.

there are only 2 times i will play A --rag ( 1 ) when im in the BB and i get a free look at the flop and (2) when i am short stacked. This is with 7 or more players, with less than 7 players i will play A and rag different, And at heads up any Ace is good>>>>>>>>>>> buck

I agree, sometimes you need to be on point and cue in on those teeny tiny tells that will let you know...Folding is just the right move here, and hopefully you will spare your chip stack from any further unnecessary damage.\ that doesnt mean im saying this is easy but you have to listen to yourself and recoginze when your beat.
