I believe they are trustworthy now. I joined the site in November, but just didn't like it and moved on. I was hesitant at first, but I saw Annie Duke do an interview and how she trusts them. I know they are paying her to be part of their team, but I respect Annie so I thought I'd try the site.

I've been going back and forth on this matter. I've won some freeroll money and have turned it into a decent bankroll there. But, without a deposit, I am limited to what I can do on the site. I have to believe that they are keeping some of the regulars satisfied, because otherwise someone here would be posting how they got screwed somehow. But, I notice that I hardly ever see any high rollers playing at the big money tables. I'm no expert on the background dealings of poker sites, but I imagine that poker sites make more money of high rollers than all the little fish combined. How long does a poker site want to run if they are not making lots of money doing it?

You should prob google ub superuser. I know a little of it, dont care about the small details. Ex employee, turned superuser had a hack and could see everyone's hole cards. UB was not in on it and I am sure has taken measures to ensure it never happens again.

And to answer the question, no, I'll never play on those sites. All the red flags that normal users saw, the site should have seen. Massive fail, IMO. Game over. RF |

Question: would Joe Sebok make a career move to go & represent a potentially corrupt/scandalous site? |

You have to remember that the Kahnawake gaming commission hid the names of the perpetrators to protect the site from more scandal so to say the site was not involved is hopeful at best. Also there was superuser account on both absolute and ultimatebet and they are owned by the same people so use your imagination.

re: After the scandal do you trust Absolute and Ultimate? poker I think it's kind of like when a restaurant gets a "B" rating. Its probably the best time to go eat there because they are going above and beyond to make it better and get away from the stigma and grade. I too believe it's probably safest now after the scandel than it ever has been.

Whether or not it's safe I don't play there. It's not a safety issue for me but an ethical issue. They should be out of business imo and nobody should give them their rake money. If I went to a restaurant and the chef pooped in my food, I would never return there. It doesn't matter if that particular chef was fired or not.

I don't play on either of those sites even though I used to see what both of them were like. I might consider start playing on UB, but for now im satisfied playing on pokerstars and full tilt.

I also trust Ultimate Bet. Mostly because Phil Hellmuth is the face of that poker room and it would be bad for his rep if they scammed people.

Do you trust Absolute and Ultimate Bet I would like to chime in here about the Absolute Scandal. I went to college and graduated with the father of one of the guys who was accused in the scandal. I know his son who was a Vice President of Absolute at the time of the scandal. He was not involved. What happened was another of my friends son who was also an executive with Absolute had a back door built into the programming. He used this back door to see everyone elses hole cards during a million dollar tourney. Anyway, like someone else noted the company has been sold. The new Absolute Poker is an ok poker community. I have and do play on the site some but do not like it as much as some others. If you want serious details, Google, Absolute Poker Scandal.

It was a lot more than just a million dollar tourney. There were actually dozens of "super user" accounts and hundreds of players from Absolute and U.B. that were victims of the scandal. Many of the super users were playing medium - high stakes cash game tables. There was a list of these "super user" accounts published on another well known forum. Some of the victims have been reimbursed by UB/AP but many still have not...and many others do not even know they were scammed. The jury is still out on U.B/AP. There is an entire thread on another forum debating this entire issue - it's hundreds of pages long. UB/AP has yet to give a clear and concise explanation for the incident, they seem to be brushing it under the table and are not willing to give out names/specifics. Seebok has vowed to get to the bottom of it but it looks as if he's run into a few walls as well. |

You your research. Both scandals happened a couple of years back, prior to their merge to the same gaming network, and prior to the buyouts that brought them under the same management. Both scandals happened when these sites were seperate entities and operating under different management. There is no reason to believe that there have been additional issues since the merge. There are none that i'm aware of. So what is your beef? Did you take a bad beat, and now think online poker is rigged. Let me guess, you play at Full Tilt, where Isuldir was the victim of collusion for a shit ton of money, with no plan of reimbursement from the site or the players. Yet, that's not even a blip on anyone radar. Why? I don't know. But this the UB/Absolute scandals were a long time ago, and in the absence of anything new to report, should be dropped. If you don't like the site, don't play. |

I play all the time on UB. It has actually become my favorite site. It takes some time, but their rewards are better than any I've seen on any site. I also like their software now. Hated the old one, but now has many features I think are great. With the new owners I think the site can be trusted. There's to much money to lose not to make it safe. One more scandal and I think they would be done for sure. They also now have independent auditing to ensure security. As was stated earlier in this thread Joe Sebok came on board to make sure things turn around and stay safe. I know they get paid a lot of money, but I just can't see Sebok, Hellmuth, and Duke endorsing a crooked site.

re: After the scandal do you trust Absolute and Ultimate? poker I withdrew over a grand last year from a BR that started with a P2P xfer and some freeroll wins. I too was a bit hesitant about giving them my info and had to deposit $50 to cement our relationship, but all that faded away when I got the checks. I trust UB.

I think it is you who doesn't understand the facts. This new management team is part of the cover up and will never release those details because it would incriminate them. You should read more about it I think. There is evidence that they are still covering this up and you need to get your facts straight before you guess at my reasons for saying what I did.As long as you and others like you accept this kind of behavior nothing will change. There is a good link in this forum to a thread from another forum. You can start reading there and maybe it will open your eyes a bit..

I understand many of you don't care and that is what I find so bothersome. Of course i won't play there. As far as my posts being about conspiracy theories it is simply not true. The only unpopular posts I have made is in the rigged thread and I simply state in there that looking at how often starting hands come out proves nothing. I have also commented regarding the logic being stated that poker sites make so much money why cheat? I would be interested to have you direct me to a thread I made that would be considered a conspiracy theories. The facts about ub is not theory. As far as poker tracking devices, not all of us want to inundate ourselves with statistics on other players and would prefer an even playing field. Don't be so sure they're here to stay because some people are turned off by the unfair advantage these programs create and poker sites are realizing this,as well as sharkscope type of sights.

All my threads are conspiracy theories and that's what you came up with? ok I can live with that statement. There is documented proof that the cheating accounts have gone through some name changes after new management took over. Also every list they came up with had user names missing which were directly linked to the cheating accounts.Again , this is not theory but is fact. Also new management has not released any names of the cheaters so they are involved in the cover up.

We're you directly affected by POTRIPPER? If not, not a big deal, all the poker sites have tons of money and could work their way out of any lawsuit. Starting a Chinese fire drill after the fact was totally pointless. BTW, I'm in the Ub freeroll it starts in 1 hour and 27 minutes...

re: After the scandal do you trust Absolute and Ultimate? poker Not sure what a Chinese fire drill is but it sounds funny so I'll take it as a joke. Sorry but I won't be joining you in your freeroll. I hate big freerolls. We can call a truce if you want to but I won't apologize for for my opinions or for anything Chinese.
