Advice needed on issue with Poker Stars

I logged into PokerStars today to find that somehow I've made an echeck purchase of $25.00.

Transaction was posted at 3:50 today. I was at work. No one lives in my house, nor has access to it.

I've checked all my credit/debit cards. No charges are listed.
Also I've never used a CC to deposit at PokerStars. I used eCheck to make my deposit.

I just joined PokerStars about two weeks ago. My initial eCheck deposit cleared my bank with no problems.

I know i didnt make the deposit. How could someone else make it without logging into my PokerStars account?

I dont rly want to just keep the money. I'm affraid PokerStars will come back and say that moneys i won with that money will be taken.

How could this happen? How should I handle it?

Thanks for any advice.

Ok, so I sent PokerStars support an email inquiring about the transaction and who made it. etc.

Here's what they said.

Thank you for contacting us.

Please allow me to apologize for this obvious inconvenience. Our
eChecks
processor was undergoing some technical difficulties and was not able
to
proceed with your transaction.

We thank you for your patience while these issues were resolved.
Please
try again at your earliest convenience and let us know immediately if
you
encounter any problems.

For assistance with alternate deposit options, please feel free to send
us
your telephone number and the best time to reach you at
dad@pokerstars.com
and we will gladly get back to you.

For further help with this or any other deposit issues please get back
to
us at dad@pokerstars.com, providing a phone number and appropriate time
to
call and we will be glad to call and give assistance.

Thank you for choosing PokerStars.

This makes no sense.

That's pretty odd for Stars support, they are typically top notch in my experience. I'd suggest responding to that e-mail and politely start off with a statement that they misunderstood you then go from there in your re-explanation. What did you say the first time? Was it a long explanation you gave? Maybe that's where they got confused.

Maybe they did. I just replied to it with a long drawn out elementary explaination of the issue.

This is just kinda freaking me out.

edit to the first post. The transaction in question was listed as a credit purchase. Not eCheck.
But like I said, I've never used a CC to deposit at PokerStars.

Well, assuming you have more than $25 there, I wouldn't worry about them taking out more than $25 when they fix the error. It's not like they can attribute any winnings to any particular money in your acct. So I wouldn't freak out too much on this. If it's a mistake to be fixed, they will. But as such, I really can't see them holding you responsible for anything else here.

Wow, talk about awesome customer service. So I replied to the mail with more detail. I was checking my email every few minutes while playing a couple cash games.
Boom! The guy who I had been e-mailing opened a chat window within PokerStars to talk about the issue.

Turns out. He said its a bonus. He said it was because I downloaded from "PokerNews" I got a bonus.
Makes no sense to me. I think i downloaded from the PokerStars site. I did use the referral code that I found here are CardsChat. Maybe that was it.

At any rate. Free 25 smackers. hey hey

Oh ok. Well I was worried that if I had entered a tournament and cashed that they would say I used the money in question. Im super paranoid.

I think that the credit purchase is a bonus of some sort. I know that Stars was giving out a bonus for depositing with eChecks a while ago, maybe that is what it is?

I think that the support will help you better than anyone here can even though their response didn't make much sense. Hopefully your 2nd email gets a better answer.

Blah, I type too slow. Anyway glad it all worked out!

Yes, it's a bonus. I had something similar happen to me over Thanksgiving weekend. I signed up for a promo on Negreanu's forum and they gave $10 to any member who earned 50 FPP's.
I had forgotten about it, so I saw the CC purchase on my account and freaked.
They explained that it was a deposit for that promotion via email. Whew!

I wish they'd word bonus deposits better.
