Adjacent player not covering cards fully

Usually if I'm playing against someone brand new to playing in a casino I'll let him know if he's lifting his cards enough that they're visible but what about cases where you've already warned them or they should know better?

The other night I was playing against someone I'd seen several times before, usually at the higher limit tables. I sat to his left in the 5 position and about 1 out of every 2 or 3 hands I could clearly see both his cards. All I had to do was glance down. What would you do in this case? Use it to your advantage, tell him, or try not to look?

I think in any situation like that, then the player should definately know better.

Maybe it was why he wasnt at the higher limit tables lol.

It's EVERY player's reponsibility to protect their cards. If they can't, that's their problem, not yours. Use it to your advantage.

I agree, 1 warning and thats it.

Ever heard the saying "Good guys finish last?" Well, it's sad but true. If he's an experienced player, use it to your advantage.

If your conscience won't leave you alone, tell him once. If he keeps showing you his cards after that, so be it.

(Different story if you're dealing with a friend or a beginner, obviously. But that doesn't seem to be the case here. Unless he's a very rich beginner, I suppose...)

One warning is ok, especially if the player is in beginner status. But if the guy is an asshole (or bitch if it's a female) and makes donk plays, I'd keep my mouth shut about it.

If you have seen him playing there several other times before.

Then I would definately use it to your advantage.

I am curious... when you warned him what was his reaction to it... was he thankful, or could care less?

i would definitely say that you should use it to your advantage. i mean if you tell him once and he does not do anything to protect his cards then you should not feel obligated to tell him again. it is not very hard to look at your cards without revealing them to anyone else so i do not feel bad for that player

I think in this case or any it would be better to let the person know whats going on. Even if its a regular id still tell him. Im a firm believer in karma so if i were to not say a word to him or her and cheat, id be waiting for it to come back to me. although one time post river i had a guy turn over his hand before i had a chance to bet and i may not of bet but i saw his hand. He had been bullying the table so when i saw that he had pocket kings and i had pocket aces, i said all in and he called. took almost $300 off of him in that hand. So that was a little different i guess.

if i was in that situation id definatelty keep it too myself i would take any oppertunity too get a edge but some people would probbably never want too cheat some 1 so in all faireness it would only be right tooo let the opponent know.

In this case I didn't tell the guy, I just kept looking. He is a very good and tricky player - maybe just a little distracted or drunk that day. He was playing unusually tight so it only really became a factor in two hands:

1) He raised preflop with KT, I have AT - flop came out 52K and he bet so I lost the $7 preflop call I might not have made otherwise.

2) He folded two diamonds, flop gave me two pair with two diamonds showing and I had one - I figured it would be a good chance to milk another 2 players trying to hit a flush draw, but a third diamond came on the turn. What are the freakin odds?

Part of it was I was too busy making sure nobody saw me looking (forgot my sunglasses) and trying to adjust my odds calculations to really concentrate on the hands. I guess I just need more practice

People who play live games more than 1x know how to keep their cards from being seen by any player besides themselves. Use it to your advantage always.

I would probably warn him once, then you would have to use it to your advantage. Mind you it sounds as if it threw off your game more than if you didn't see his cards.

No morals involved..., he had his warning.
