2 different pokersites duplicate and pureplay

I don't even know if these two sites both exist i was just looking through my computer and saw they were ones i once downloaded and removed.

Duplicate poker

You and your opponent are each dealt same cards at seperate tables.

You make money from your opponent based on how you play over 10 hands.

Hence the person with the most chips gets payed from the other.

Pureplay

You actually pay a monthly rate to be a member and compete in tourneys for money.

This is a short discription on this just wondering what other peoples thoughts are. Haven't played either in a while, and i actually built up my free money on duplicate to like 6 bucks course haven't been there in over a year so may not have an account.

Duplicate.... never had any interest to find out more about it.
The other one you refer to.. I've heard of others like this.. ie. Spadesclub. Never had any interest in this sort of thing either.

Just looked into it looks as though duplicate poker is no more. Guess i'm out 6 bucks. It was kinda screwy in my mind anyway. Did log in to the pureplay site and it still is up and running.

Duplicate went bankrupt and didn't pay out the players. It all went to the lawyers....If you had money in your account when they announced they were shutting down, it was too late... you couldn't cash out. You had to go through a legal firm to make a claim but there was no money left after expenses to pay the players their hard earned money...

Saw they went under never looked into why though. Makes sense that they gave me 2 bucks free just for signing up. Hell they could have given me 200 since they wouldn't ever pay out accounts.

I was never real comfortable with playing there anyway. At the low stakes half people are retarded so it was more difficult to beat out your duplicate opponent since there is that many more donks at the table.

This is not true, I had money in my account. When you went to log in for about a week they gave a warning they were shutting down and to click to get your funds. I didn't bother for my 6 bucks.

This is true. I'm sure some players were able to cash out-first come first served-but many were not able to, including me. They didn't have sufficient funds and declared bankruptcy. I tried to cash out, and was told I would get correspondence in the mail with instructions how to get my money. I got the correspondencel from a legal firm , had to fill out forms and wait like 6 months, only to be told that after expenses (legal fees and such), there was no money left to pay out to the players.

PurePlay is worse than ever

Just an FYI….. PurePlay is raising the price for members who, like me and the wife, have been here since the beginning . From $19.99 per month to $24.99.
They say the reason for increasing the price is to give us more ‘play money’ chips, WHO CARES? And to update the foofoo look of the tables, and NOT A WORD ABOUT MORE PAYOUTS!!
The wife and I figured it out when we quit being members and we are up 4700 net in the 4 yrs we were here, so nothing to cry about EXCEPT THE ADS THAT FREE PLAYERS HAVE TO PUT UP WITH NOW HAVE A MALWARE/TROJAN INSTALLER IN ONE OF THEM!!
SpadeClub and PurePlay use the EXACT same software EXCEPT that PP has not updated to the latest version. AND THEY WANT US TO PAY FOR THE UPDATE.
Charge more, payout less….great job if you can get it.
One piece of advice…..SpadeClub

That may be true for those that didn't jump on it.
Your first post said they shut down did not pay their players, it all went to lawyers and when they announced it was too late. I know quite a few ppl who got paid. I had sufficient notice to cash out but chose not to.
