$100 Pokerstars Freerolls THREAD

Looks like Pokerstars is testing out $100 Freeroll waters with using
10,000
20,000
30,000
40,000
Massive Tourney player fields

It says it isn't part of the "regular tournament schedule" looks like they begin Oct 29 & 30 and are already full for those two days.

Official thread here? since I haven't seen it discussed anywhere here....yet.

yeah that is a little ridiculous.. thats one of the reasons I hate PokerStars .. alll there freerolls have 10000 people its ridiculous..atleast Full Tilt max is 2700 and even that is a little crazy since first place is only 15 dollars..these sites make so much money off of us the least they could do have some better freerolls and put some more money in them so people feel like there atleast worth playing..I mean COME ON

Umm... how are these sites making soooo much money off the players who are playing the freerolls? If these freerolls were a great go, then what would be the motivation for micro limit players to even make deposits on the sites? I'm not sure how a site 'owes' those who are on there for free? I think it's just a bonus that they give away to people... call it a promo-advertising (player gets to experience the look & feel of a site, quickly realizes that the freerolls are pretty much a waste of time but gives them an oppurtunity to see what the software is like, in order to help them to decide that they want to make a deposit & play on there). Also, for the strictly 'freetrollers'... they win a few bucks, then get to experience playing for 'real money' and then wanting more, they go & make a deposit.

Didn't see these freerolls on Pokerstars. Good thing, I may have been tempted to play in one, lol.

Yeah, sometimes I wonder if the sites intentionally make the fields large so that you just say, "Screw it- this takes too long for $15, I'll just deposit fifty bucks". I was certainly guilty of that.

Now if I want some good cheap fun, I'll just jump in the nightly forum game on FTP. It's only 10 cents, the field is substantially smaller and a lot of times they'll add $20 to the pool. Plus it's usually a turbo game.

i almost have a headache thinkin bout th massive fields. i personally dont think pokerstars put much thought into em due to how quick they all filled up instead of staggering out th reg time closer to event like how Full Tilt does their $100 freerolls. Also with how poor pokerstars set up th registration its likely th most 'sit outs in online poker history' in some of em lol.

These should be great long-term for pokerstars deposit business though. good luck to em. Oh and I agree with others in this thread how there soooooooooo many BETTER freeroll events(specifically CardsChat) to play in out there.

For sure though, good luck to all CCers who play in these. lookin forward to see how many get in and wade through th massive fields.

WOW

That is absolutely crazy!!!!!! you know there's gonna be massive sitters this sounds like it's right up SP's alley he was looking for tourney's with more sitters http://www.cardschat.com/f6/increase...-games-163758/ not a CC game of course but it is money added

I think I'll pass on these my time is worth a little more than that

was able to get into one of the 40,000ppl ones when someone unreg. here's some scouting report stuff i noticed.
--all of the sitouts were basically gone around or by the 30min mark.
--less than 350ppl were left at th 2hour mark.
--i finished 122nd out of 40,000 @ about 2:20.
--money bubble hand for hand was at th 2hr 35min mark.
overall quicker than i anticipated since 40,000 runners is huge number.
my last hand i had AK preflop push all-in, called by bigblind who had J-10 and couple others called. Ten flopped, bigblind bet th others out and no help for me on turn or river.
No regrets here. I had fun,
I recommend em for th new players who dont have a bankroll. Also, for those with a couple hours to kill who wanna test their game with no risk in a massive field. Plus,it'd be kinda fun to play with a friend and do a side "last longer" bet maybe. Thats about all.

i am in some tomorrow but may not be home to play and may not try em again. 122nd out of 40,000ppl is respectable to me. good luck to all CCers if ya play, have fun!

When I looked at the info for the $100 PokerStar Freeroll, it appeared that only the top 100 got paid. As of this morning, I don't see any upcoming $100 tourneys; as a matter of fact, I don't even see the Astrology freeroll series listed.

I just joined the PCA Freeroll Fantasy:Freeroll Satellite. I'm not sure if I can win money or not but I feel it's a great way to get experience. I will post the results. Right now there are 10,000 platers and it still has 12 minutes left lol.

If you are good at Razz it is much easier to cash in the Razz freeroll than the US freeroll.

Started with 12,504 players, after 5 minutes we were down to 10,00o players and i was in the 2014th place lol

I am playing very tight/aggresive.

All in except for 600 bucks on pocket aces after flopped low cards another player had A Qs and pulled a flush.

Next hand went all in on A Q after flopped an A same player followed me in and revealed a pair of 3's, gues he thought I was bluffing. Back to 1500.

15 minutes in-7700 players left-currently in 4222 place!

30 minutes in down to 4200 players, currently in 1972 position.

Just watch a K J of diamonds beat pocket aces! KJ went all in 10k preflop, AA followed all in. K J won with a flush. Why go all in with 10k, I only have 3500!

Blinds at 400/800 down to 1400 chips and havent had a good hand in a while-drew A 7 heres the play

WOW!!

Big blinds killed me! 13,000 down to 980 when I finally went all in blinds 1500/3000

4 hearts oh well

These were my stats for the tourney, the one I lost was the last hand!

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 67 hands and saw flop:
- 7 out of 8 times while in big blind (87%)
- 2 out of 9 times while in small blind (22%)
- 6 out of 50 times in other positions (12%)
- a total of 15 out of 67 (22%)
Pots won at showdown - 6 of 7 (85%)
Pots won without showdown - 0

Finished 510 after 1 hour 18 minutes.

I think I have to learn to open with some cards different than the way I play. It might be a good strategy for building a bankroll but not a tourney.

I hate pokerstars freerolls. Why the hell would anyone want to play in a freeroll with more than 10 or 20k people. Just doesnt make sense to me.

At Fulltilt the freerolls are much better, more frequent and they have country freerolls. This for me makes me believe that fulltilt is a better site. Pokerstars should probably try to clean up their act. I think there losing out on a lot of money by doing this.

Just my opinion.
