10,000 PPL Stars freeroll

I normaly stay away from the freeroll rants unless I decide to be funny with it, but tonight I had a harsh reality hit me.

I played in a Freeroll at Stars with a field of just over 10,000 tonight. For the first hour and a half I had 10,000 in chips. I hit a nasty river and went down to 326 in chips. The next 3 hands were gold and I climbed back out. Shortly after 2nd break I realized we were down to 400 ppl and everyone had at least 70,000 more chips than me. That is when it dawned on me that no one gets removed from Stars tourneys. So all those chips were in the wrong hands. This kinda proved that you have to get way up in one of these to stay alive. I then got out of protect the blind mode and got agressive with so-so cards. Right after 3rd break I had 80,000 chips and I'll be damned if the closest person at my table didn't have 200,000 chips. This makes it very hard to win, even with good cards because the idiots can afford to call you. I went out in 200, which I wasn't to pissed about, but I guess today's lesson is get up high or pray for a miracle.

Yeah you really do have to get super-aggressive in tournaments to make it far. Especially in those huge-entry ones where there are millions of chips flying around. Great job on 200th place - out of 10K!!! - that's crazy.
I'd have either lost interest or busted out much earlier.

Great job, you definatly did much better then I did.. I did very well for a good portion of the night there.. Until my top 2 pair on the flop was crippled by the nut flush.

I made it in the top 10% , like you said after awhile you are fending for your life. My most favorable hand was after 1st break... I had like 7k in chips.. around 5th hand after 1st break I get AA's. Now I do a pre-flop raise with them of course and everyone folds to the chip leader of the table.. Sure as hell he calls..The rest of the field folds but BB pushes all in with his 5500 stack. I think I can isolate him and push the the rest of my stack in.. Nope according to mr donk he had to call... I won the hand needless to say.. AA's vs 44's(BB) K,J unsuited(Mr Donk)...

I remember how I got to where I was at... Twice by another 2 donks who tried to buy the pot with a mid pair and a low pair on the board. I had TPTK both times. Then watched this 1 time where a guy way overbets the pot 4+K into a 450 chip pot on the river cause he has trip 2's that fell on the flop while holding Q,2 offsuit..

I was looking for the a,5 straight cause I limped with a,5 suited which a 4 did come on the river but 2 initial thoughts ..1st 4k into a 450 pot in LP just plain nuts, someone did call but only with TPTK.. other thought no way in hell I will call on a gut shot straight.

But good job Dennis in fighting through all that massive crazy donk cases.
