$1,000 Weekly Freeroll at FT

Wow, just saw the Round 1 freeroll into the $1,000 weekly freeroll at full tilt. For those who are griping about the new 7,500 player hourly freerolls, what do you think about a 30k player freeroll for $1,000? Personally I'm kind of stoked, and since I can't get away from a good massive tourney, can't wait to get involved in this one.

Think you can take down a 30k player tourney for $100? Worth the time, or no? On second thought, maybe there are better things to do..

If you're tryin to build a BR off freerolls it would be good, but personally I'd spend the $1 for the daily dollar or $2 for a 700 man tourney-bigger payout.

re: $1,000 Weekly Freeroll at FT poker

This is a good thing, but it looks like there are only 12 qualifying tourneys (Sunday & Monday) for each weekly freeroll. I wish the qualifying tourneys were turbos too to speed up things.

That 30K tourney payout of $1000 may be worth it...but it will take all night & day to get through it on FT! It takes about 5-6hrs to wade through 7500. I may try it one day when I'm not busy though.

From the image ^, it looks like only 10k players. How long did this tourney go on for? I'm guessing somewhere around 7-8 hours. For me, not unless you win the $100, that would be a long, waste of time to win something like $10.

These qualifiers are 10,000 strong with top 250 going to the weekly $1000.

I just completed one in the top 100, it took around 4 hours.

Not worth it, playing that long to MAYBE win $100 isnt worth it. Youre better off playing private tourneys or the other FT MTTs to grind out your BR. If you have NOTHING BUT TIME on your hands, then the tourney would be fine to play...but I'll pass.

Yeah, these are crazy. I'd hoped the payout structure on the $1,000 freeroll would be a little longer, but there's no real way I'm going to luckbox in one of the round 1 freerolls and then sit through 30,000 people for a gamble at $2 to $100. There's no way the ROI makes up for the time!

this seems cool but it would be very hard to cash in the 1k freeroll since there will end up being so many players in it. plus if you cash its only a buck.

Tbh most freerolls arent worth the time...Unless ofc your just a new player - which I am.

I did the round 1 and qualified for the weekly $1000 first time, so ill play it and see how it goes. But i doubt ill bother going through it again.

The qualifiers are every two hours.

As for the "time ev", I figure it's better than buying lottery tickets

I just busted out of my first attempt, started off playing too conservatively.

I didn't realize the qualifiers are every two hours, knowing that now, I'll loosen up in the next one.

The 10k entries were down to ~4k by the first break (only 10 minutes in !), the same thing will probably happen in the 30k main event.

Sounds like a bit of a waste of time to me but if you like playing huge tourneys with massive numbers, i suppose its a good idea.

If u back yourself agaisnt any freeroll players i suppose u may aswell give it a shot.

I just played round 1 and am now entered to win a top prize of 100 dollars lol. There are already 15000 other people that will be/not be playing tomorrow. What a joke. With all the money that site brings in you would think they would try and reward people for playing. The only thing I like at Full Tilt is the academy. The software sucks, the freerolls suck, and there are much better poker opportunities elsewhere. Just my .02(which is probably the top prize in the next freeroll).

re: $1,000 Weekly Freeroll at FT poker

I've played in several of these so far. I got pretty far and big stacked in a couple and busted out early in a couple. The things that freerolls are best for, IMHO, is practice. If you happen to win some change or a couple of dollars, that's even better. There are too many over aggressive plays and donks to take them too seriously, but I try to play just as I would if it was my normal $2 or $5 tourney entry level.

IMO they have the best software, why do you think it sucks?

The acadamey / freerolls is their best freeroll deal. Very easy to get into. So easy in fact, I almost don't see the point of having to pass the "tests". Might as well just have the freerolls open to anybody.

I the tests / video guess maybe to lure players into playing for more money with the "skills" they learn at the academy ?

After second break I'm 2386 / 6,461.

On my dialup, the software is lagging like crazy .... something which has never happened even when I've played in the 7500 player fields.

....Seems to be better now after the break .... we'll see.

I won a big hand, was up to 6k in chips, .. then slid all the way down to 2k, just won another big pot with my TT's back up to 6.5K .... 2074 / 3956

*** I'm out JJ loses to T8 (he made a straight)

Yeah, I can't handle these anymore. Played in about four of them, placed well, but it's so speculative for such a tiny shot at a cash.

FWIW, Lee Watkinson came 6587th out of 16689 total players. If he'd managed to hold on until 90th, he'd have earned a cool $2!

And yes, I absolutely agree that Full Tilt has the best software. Playing on Ultimatebet and looking at the hand histories feels like they just plugged some flashy software over an old server from 1986.

I agree with you, this is a good thing. Fulltilt has changed their freeroll structure and i think its great. The normal freerolls have gone up 50bucks and like you said there is a weekly 1k!!! More people but hey at least its not as bad as pokerstars.........lol

re: $1,000 Weekly Freeroll at FT poker

Well I "tried" to play in the $1k yesterday.

Software was lagging so bad, it disconnected / folded me out of just about every other hand.

There were "only" 19,000 entrants, so I don't know why their software obviosly cant handle an additional ~10k players .. at least on my pc. (I played the ~10,000 player daily dollar and it ran smoothly, no lag at all).

I can play two or even 3 7500 freerolls simulatenously, with no lag at all ... and this is on dialup !!.

But the $1k one is unplayable. ... Hm maybe deliberately so, on FT' part (conspiracy theory .. lol), so I don't think I'll bother trying again.
