Well anyways, I thought I'd introduce myself and get some opinions on my strategy thus far. I'm a fish. I just started playing consistently a couple weeks ago. Since then I've played about 250-300 hands ($1k) at the casino here in cinci, and another 500 online. Needless to say, my BR is down $1k... if you would even call that a bankroll. I call it "tuition".

After reading a bit online and on the forums here, I've realized that I'm mainly a limper. At the real tables, they were 1/2NL with 50/200 buy in. I always buy in 50, except for one night I decided to play more aggressive and bought in 200 for 20 hands then back in for 150... up to $500 10 hands later then a bad beat bust. Not bad enough to win the promo though aha.:(

That scared me back down to limping. mainly to just observe and play the hand if I could afford it.

A few questions I have for the world:
-Where do I start?... rather, how do I improve myself as a player (besides from playing)???

-What's an easy way to play in person games. - I actually used an app on my phone on session for pre-flop percentages and nobody seemed to object too much.
--I'm practicing pot-odds, but short stacked they seem to be useless.
--Implied odds are beyond my grasp right now.
--I don't understand half of the lingo/abbreviations

That's all for now, I'm sure I'll think of more stuff that I want to know if anyone wants to answer these and if I don't find my answer searching the forum and the net.

Anyways... Hello!

Hey everyone. I've been spending the day trying to work out some tough spots I've been having at the table. I'm American so for me anyway, that means a real felt table. One of the toughest spots, for me anyway, is when I raise pre-flop and then get led into on the flop by a player who in a perfect world should be respecting my raise as a sign of strength. In poker parlance this is called a Donk Bet and there doesn't seem to be any consensus about what this means.

OOP vs a supposedly strong hand is just such a bad place to bluff that it has to mean something but rarely do I ever see anyone show up with a monster. I still have a substantial database of hand histories from the good ol' days to fall back on so I thought it might be fun to put together a little quiz. Below are 3 hands where a preflop raiser (not always me) is bet into on the flop. The hand is played out until no further action is possible and then you are given a choice of 4 possible hands. There's no trick. In each case, one of the hands is correct. I will post a total of 10 hands and then post the best scores in a few days. For now I'll just PM the correct answers to the players and in a week or so I'll post them in the thread.

I've got to go for now but I'll pick this up again later on tonight. GL

The Blinds are $2/$4
Villain UTG ($340) limps in UTG.
You’re on the CO ($270) and raise to $16 with :kd: :kc:
Both blinds fold and Villain call for $12 more.
{$42}
The flop comes :6d: :3s: :8d: and Villain leads out for $25.You put him on a flush draw or maybe top pair with an ace and make it $85 to go and he calls.
{$212}
The turn is a the :2h:. Villain checks. This isn’t a totally hamless card as it just made a possible straight but you haven’t heard back from him yet so having no reason to believe you’re not still good you stick in your last $185 and he calls ending the action.

What does he have?
A) :ad: :3d:
B) :6h: :7s:
C) :4c: :5c:
D) :ah: :8s:

The Blinds are $.50/$1.00
It folds around to a player in MP ($86.50) who opens for $3.50
Everyone folds except for the BB ($47.30) who calls.
{$7.50}
We have no info on either player.
The flop comes :jc: :2d: :2s:
The BB leads out for $1 and the pf raiser calls. Pot is $9.50
The turn is :5s: The BB again bets $1 and again, the OR just calls.
{$11.50}
The river is :5d: and the BB bets $1 for a third time.

What does he have?
A) :kc: :js:
B) :ac: :2c:
C) :3h: :3d:
D) :6d: :4d:

It’s a $.10/.$25 rush Table at Full Tilt
Even though it’s a Rush table your HUD is working and a very tight 11/4/2 player with a full stack limps in UTG+2. You’ve got $20. You look down at :qd: :ad: on the CO and raise to $1. The limper calls. The pot is $2.35
The Flop comes :7s: :6d: :2d: and he donks it for $1.50
This flop nails his limping range but you have 2 overs and the nut flush draw. You might get him off a pair and this is a nice spot to semi-bluff so you re-pop it to $4.25. He calls and the pot is now $10.85.
The turn is the :8c: and he checks. You really should follow up with a half size bet but you take the free card and check behind.
The river is the :3c: which changes nothing but he bets $6.50. Could this be a busted flush draw? If he had a straight wouldn’t you have heard from him on the turn? You may have slowed down a top pair hand with the re-raise and then given it away by checking back the turn.

What the **** does he have?
A)	:ah: :as:
B)	:7c: :6c:
C)	:jd: :10d:
D)	:4h: :5h:

Hey guys,
I recently (about a month ago) started playing on pokerstars. I've been using the app on my cellphone. After a bit of a bad run I remembered I've got pokertracker installed on a pc. Trouble is will I be able to use it to see my stats now that I've been playing all this time on the cellphone? The cellphone app doesnt save hand history. Would it be possible to have it analyze hands from pokerstars emailed hand history and if so could someone please guide me? I dont expect to be spoonfed ofcourse but I havent really used PT4 much at all and the app. seems a bit daunting upon a cursory glance. :o

cheers for any help you could offer.
