Thoughts on is online poker rigged
EMPIRE ONLINE received a written warning that its vital relationship with fellow gaming group Party Gaming might be changed, but did not tell investors about it in the prospectus for a float earlier this year. Now wtf does this have to do with anything, you ask? Witholding vital information from investors, tells me Empire was trying to cash in before the bottom dropped out of their buisness by defrauding investors!
The vast majority of online players tell you they believe the sites are totally legitimate, do not decieve people and in no way rig games. The most common reason is, they believe the sites have too much to lose by playing dirty. Well wouldn’t you think a company stands to lose a lot more by witholding VITAL information from investors, as opposed to being forthcoming about the fact they are about to lose the vast majority of the players, their players play? Blind faith that the people running these sites are good buisnessmen and run their buisnesses the way you think they should, to me is simply misguided. Now I am not saying sites do rig games but this, if true, must call Empire’s integrity into question! In an industry that has virtually no legitimate oversite, integrity is the only thing these sites have to make players believe their games are 100 percent square. Having said that if you believe you are getting cheated and continue to play then it is time for a good 12 step program or to get your head examined! Personally I doubt there is rampant cheating going on but I don’t know for sure that there isn’t either.
The best stance to have in buisness is trust but verify. Right now what do we have that verifies the legitimacy of the games? What kind of legal recourse does a player from the US have, if for whatever reason a gaming site confiscates a player’s funds? The answer to the first question is there are organizations, for instance the Kahnawakke Gaming Commission, that license the sites but do you really think if you have a dispute a Canadian Indian tribe is going to get your money for you? The second answer is NONE! If internet gaming is legal in your country then quite likely you have somebody to turn to. The reality here in the states is bettor beware because faith that the management of a site isn’t going to cornhole (gay and lesbian readers insert missionary position) you is all you’ve got!
My post isn’t meant to scare anybody or call the poker sites criminal organizations. I just think everybody should keep their mind open to the fact we don’t know for sure if or if not the games are 100 percent legit. The only way we can get some security is if a major government puts their name and reputation on the line to license these joints be hope for this is Great Britain as they just legalized online gaming.

I have played online poker for about two years and have found it to be very entertaining. I have played UB and PP and don’t see a great deal of difference, but I think PP player pool is softer.. I have finally found several home and bar games within close proximity to home and play there two or three nights a week.
Now…to my point. I think the internet game is by and large rubbish. I think the sites themselves are crooked and that there is a good deal of teaming done by players. There is absolutly no reason for the sites to run a straight game and no reason for them to regulate the play. The idea that “they make enough without cheating” is a fantasy. When it comes to money and big business too much is never enough.
Ok..lets look at somethings here. Most of the gaming sites are located in off shore countries such as Costa Rica and are regulated by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission in Canada. I bet they carry alot of clout in Costa Rica. Now who pays the KGC? Well i suppose the folks they are regulating-ya think? Anyone ever seen a picture of UB pr PP brick and morter facility? All ya really need is a water tight pole barn and a couple of computer nerds to keep things rolling and your in. Don’t forget a butt load of advertising and get some pros looking for sponsorship to do some commercials. The idea that these sites are legit is ridiculous. I have just touched on the obvious, Haven’t even gotten into the silly high percentages of bad beats, huge hands and those sorts of things.
For these reason I will never put another dime into online poker. As i said in the begining, I have found it to be entertaing, but it bares very little resembalance to live poker. Ya wanna play-go for it. But you would be much better off to spend your time putting together a good live game with your buddies that you can trust.
Thanks for listening to my rant-I could rattle on for hours, but I will cut ya some slack-lol!
Good Luck and thanks for listening-Gene B
