Bad week turned out well
Well last week was pretty slow for my SnG challenge progress. My ISP’s server, which supports the login page, was down for about 4 days last week so I had no way of playing any games. No work and no play make ChuckTs a dull boy. Actually that’s a lie - my best friend had a housewarming party on saturday at his new apartment which was an absolute blast. I woke up sunday afternoon with an empty wallet, a faint memory of getting pancakes at 4AM and I don’t remember much else which means it must have been fun.
Anyways the actual games that I did get to play turned out really poorly with some bad beats and some ‘too-tight’ play by myself. I think I placed in maybe 1 of 5 SnGs, and of course this ruined my confidence. By the end of the week I was fed up with the SnGs and decided I was going to play very solid poker in sunday’s $25 buyin bounty tournament held by CC. As it turns out, I really didn’t need much solid play considering the cards I was dealt. I actually laid down AQ three times to big raises from tight players, and still had plenty of hands to build my stack with. I not only had a very nice run of cards, but the other players happened to have only slightly worse hands dealt at the exact same time which meant big pots for me. Alon Ipser, who also won the double bounty in a very large pot, and I had a very see-saw battle heads up for just short of $300 for top prize. He ended up taking it in a hand in which I shouldn’t have been involved in the first place, and won the very well-deserved 1st place prize.
My bankrolls on both PokerStars and FullTilt are large enough for me to make a cash-out, which I will do today (they’re both around $400 or $500 each). I’ve been eyeing a flat-screen LCD TV for some time now, and I think I’m either going to go pick it up today or at least by the end of this week. I’m sure I could have bought it ages ago had I had an actual full-time job, but it’s still great to see my hobby (turned job) pay for such nice toys
Bringing my ‘roll down to about $200 per site (and about $500 total) will also put more pressure on me to play my best in the SnG challenge so that should result in better…um…results.
Here are my SnG challenge stats as of today.
