Tessa Jowell on the US gambling law

Nick @ 4:09 pm

Tessa Jowell, the UK culture secretary spoke out against the Online Gambling Bill. In an article on the BBC website, she talks about how the US gambling law is flawed.

Well done to her for speaking out and standing up for the sensible approach - regulation. What she says is 100% true, having a crackdown on online gambling is only going to hurt citizens when they play at unregulated, offshore sites and run into trouble when trying to receive their funds. If it was regulated, there wouldn’t be as much risk to consumers because the Government would have the means to intervene.

She also said she is hosting a summit next week about how to regulate internet gambling with politicians from all over the world attending. Hopefully a few representatives from the USA will be there, taking notes.
