It’s been almost a week since my last entry, chiefly because I spent Thursday and Friday of last week on part two of the leadership seminars I’m signed up for. The discussions this time had very little in way of implications on poker so I won’t bore you with them, but in case you were worried about me, you know what I’ve been up to.

I came home Friday night, and barely had time to change clothes and go to a party; my company threw an Oktoberfest. Since someone is bound to point out that an Oktoberfest is supposed to be held at the end of September, I’ll submit that my boss - who was the main arranger of the party - is from Germany, so we can have our party whenever we so damn please. So nyah. Got home from party at 2 a.m. Woke up fairly hungover at 10:30 a.m. Then most of Saturday was spent cleaning the apartment while hungover, which was no fun at all, I must say.

When you’re sick - and being hungover counts - you can sometimes get that feeling that “This is it. This is never going to pass. Ever. I’m going to feel like this for the rest of my life.” You know the feeling? I was really surprised to wake up feeling fine on Sunday. I felt like the king of the world, I could do anything! Marathon? Not a problem!

… So I spent half the day playing online poker, and the other half playing Civilization IV, with a small break in the middle to go grocery shopping. Uh… Yay me. I ended up ~ $100 down, too, so not only do I feel like a slob, but I feel like a loser too. $100 isn’t a lot of money, but it’s just that I have a little bit of a problem with feeling like I’ve wasted half a day without anything to show for it. Obsessively thinking “I’m +EV, I’m +EV, I’m +EV” will only go so far, ya know? Grrrr.

I got an email from Poker Stars mentioning that they’re “selling” a new item in their FPP store for Gold+ members; you can “buy” money for FPPs. They’re evaluating it right now, but the idea is that if you’re a gold member, you can use 25k points to receive a $285 bonus. The platinum reward is higher, and the supernova even higher, of course. I don’t currently have 25k points, unfortunately, otherwise it would have seemed like a decent thing to spend them on. I should check if there are new books that I can order, though… Except, of course, I have to get another iPod Nano before anything else. My fiancée seems to think it’s a good idea if she can get one too. Oh well, FPPs come easily.

On a sidenote, I just learned how to embed YouTube videos in blog posts. Fear what is bound to come.
