US Internet Gambling Bill

Fredrik Paulsson @ 7:40 pm - Filed under Poker General.

… has now passed both the house and the senate, and Bush is expected to sign it within the coming two weeks. I have not yet had a chance to look at it in any detail (I’ve been visiting my folks this weekend and just got back home) but in the meantime, this law does not - in my understanding - make it illegal to play poker online. Instead, they’re trying to make it illegal to transfer funds to and from gambling sites. Exactly how, for instance, NETeller will be affected by this is not clear yet given that they’re not a US company and therefore do not technically need to abide by US law.

Anyway, the best summary of the situation that is continuously updated that I’ve found is here.

Precious few hours left of my weekend, let’s see what I can do with them…
