I’m back (again)

ChuckTs @ 5:07 pm

Well, I’m sorry to disappoint you readers, but I’m back again :)

A while back, I contacted Nick and let him know I wasn’t going to blog anymore. I had several reasons, but mainly it was because I wasn’t playing as much poker, and hence didn’t have much to write about for the blog. Even when I was (trying) to write, I seemed to hit a writer’s block and didn’t have any ideas.

Now I’m not saying I’m back for good - I can’t guarantee I’ll have interesting ideas/experiences to write about every day, but I’ll do my best to keep my side of the blog updated as much as possible.

One reason I’ve decided to start writing again is because I’m playing a lot more now. I started multitabling a while ago, but would only play one session of four STTs in a day on average, probably less. I’ve not only started playing more sessions daily, but I’ve started playing six tables successfully in the last few days, and am running quite good. Whether it’s variance or good play, I’m not sure, but I do know that I’m able to concentrate on all six tables successfully. I’ve played quite a few $16s turbos in my time (which is what I’m still playing now), and every once in a while I run so good that I naively think I dominate them. I do of course realize in the back of my head that I still do have a lot of work to do before I move up in stakes although I am sustaining a nice return after a few hundred of them.

I’ve been playing so much recently that I’ve found myself playing with the big-time, 5-figure making multitablers daily, and a kind of relationship has grown between us. We don’t chat or discuss anything with each other, but we both know what the other plays like, and I think we reach a slightly higher level of thinking. It reminds me of playing with the CC regulars in the weekly games we have (which I haven’t played in a while now that I think of it…). We each have hundreds if not thousands of hands on each other, and know almost exactly what our respective hand ranges can be at any time, and we both play off that and try to make moves on each other. Hands can get kind of complicated with thought processes, especially when you have five other tables beeping at you because you’re running out of time. Anyways, it doesn’t get too overwhelming, but can be tricky at times. It’s definitely introduced a new element to the game that I’m not completely used to.

As of right now, my bankroll stands at around $1240; $970 and change at pokerstars, and about $270 at mansion. I deposited $100 at mansion ages ago, but since they’re money-hungry bastards, they made my withdrawl as painful as possible and I still haven’t gotten it done yet. For now it’s kind of my fun account. I occasionally play 100nl there just to test the waters (which are chock-full of guppies, I might add), and have actually done pretty well.

I’m way overrolled for the $16s on stars, but I like it better that way, especially now that I’m 6-tabling. Even in one session, about a hundred bucks is in play for me, so I think having extra padding can’t hurt if I end up hitting a bad streak. I hadn’t really thought of moving up to the $27 turbos until recently, but I think if I can maintain a ~%20 ROI which translates into about $14/hr when I’m 6-tabling, then I’ll be perfectly happy here at the $16s for a while.

I do have some plans for the near future if I can save up enough through poker and work, but I’ll save that for another post. Until then, happy fishing and gl at the tables!
