Results.

Fredrik Paulsson @ 7:46 pm

I’ve learned not to be results oriented. My 300 BB downswing still took quite a toll on me, but I pulled through. This is why I don’t immediately decide that my recent winnings are solely because I’m playing much better - even if I am. I can still lose.

Yet, recently, I haven’t.  There’s nothing wrong with celebrating successes as long as I’m not delusional about what to attribute them to - and I’ve had some good fortunes lately to both be making good decisions and getting the cards to help me at showdown.

I’m mostly playing 3/6 at the time being. I’m, honestly, not good enough to beat 5/10 for enough to make it worthwhile. I think there’s one or two regulars at Stars who win big in those games, but I’m not one of them. With the horrible rake, 5/10 needs to offer some really big fish at the table to be worthwhile as compared to 3/6. Not that 3/6 has a much better rake structure, but there the fish really are abundant. It’s amazing how easily 3/6 plays for me these days - and to think I used to have a problem beating them!

So I’m grinding, in a sense. I’m trying to grind in a way that makes me think more about my decisions, and I’m still focusing on what I’m doing rather than what ends up coming of it. I feel like I’m in a really good place right now, poker-wise.

Oh, and my vacation’s coming up on Friday. Three weeks off, climaxing with my wedding on August 4th. I’m going to be playing golf, working in the garden, planning the last-minute wedding stuff, grill stuff, and try to play enough poker to keep my mind sharp at least. I can’t wait!
