Better Decisions

Fredrik Paulsson @ 10:31 am - Filed under Poker General.

It’s funny how just thinking that I ought to focus more on improving my game has already seemingly improved my game. I’m thinking more. I’m making better decisions all over the place. And this is without actually studying much or “learning” something new so far - just the idea that I ought to focus more on learning has gotten me to shape up. One of the things I want to do is review all of my sessions afterwards to see if I had any interesting hands to think through. I believe that just the “threat” of having to look at a decision later on is enough to make me play better.

So far, the results have been less than stellar, though. Yesterday I had a fairly short session where my flopped sets got outdrawn twice. No expert can turn a session like that around without getting monster cards; and I didn’t.

Overall, I’m very happy with the way I’m playing as of late. I wish the results would show that I’m playing well, but even though they don’t at the moment, I’m still happy with poker. Perhaps for the first time in a long time, I feel confident in that I’m playing well and that the results I’m experiencing have nothing to do with me. I didn’t know it could feel this good to lose - but that doesn’t mean I’d like to make losing a habit. Time to run hoooooooooooooooooooooot.
